Had a little laugh over this one. Sorry for the kids, though.

From another site: "When you have Democratic 'leaders' who won't endorse Democratic nominees, won't say if they voted for Democrats, and engineer GOP victories, you're not a big tent party....

This aged well.
Primary them all.
14 Senate Dems just voted to advance Trump's pick for Assistant Secretary of the Treasury:

Alsobrooks
Durbin
Gillibrand
Hassan
Kelly
Kim
Klobuchar
Peters
Reed
Schiff
Shaheen
Warner
Warnock
Whitehouse

I think a lot of the anger this morning stems from a feeling that we did our part, but they did not do theirs. This is an oversimplification, but my dudes, no wonder people are like, “OK, let’s try the democratic socialist, then.”

Just following up on this.
Health care isn’t negotiable.

We need to both reopen the government and work together to protect access to affordable health care by extending the ACA enhanced premium tax credits.

Carefully choreographed votes and angry press releases are all cute, but the indication of whether anyone in the caucus really cares is whether there’s any push for leadership changes or punitive action against the cavers.

There won’t be, but that would be the theoretical sign this is different
The caucus meeting was just to orchestrate who would fall on the sword but not be up for a vote in 2026.
so currently defectors are:

Kaine (2030)
Shaheen (Retiring)
Hasan (2028)
Fetterman (2028)
Durbin (Retiring)
CCM (2028)
Rosen (2030)
King (2030)

One point worth emphasizing here: The punditry has been saying Sherrill (and Spanberger) represent the sane centrist wing of the party versus the left. Well, okay, but here Sherrill is urging more fight. Again, the results show that anti-Trump + affordability can *unite* the party. This shows how.
This is really good to see: Miki Sherrill just put out a statement sharply criticizing the Senate Dems' pending cave in the government shutdown, ripping it as "malpractice" and a betrayal of the people who are "counting on us to fight for them." Sherrill knows what drove her victory. Wake up, Dems.

This is how Dems reward their voters LESS THAN A WEEK after a totally dominant electoral sweep. I know I shouldn't be shocked anymore, but this is genuinely unbelievable. Pathetic, selfish, stupid little piggies.

The only Dem senators voting to cave on the shutdown fight are either retiring or not up for reelection this cycle.

Might be Dems' most beautifully synchronized cave yet
EIGHT Senate Democrats have voted to advance the funding measure so far after the deal was reached:

Cortez Masto
Durbin
Fetterman
Hassan
Kaine
King
Rosen
Shaheen

If the existing 52 Republicans hold, that's 60 — enough to advance this agreement. Final vote still to come.

Guess that answers that! 🤣
The airlines decided when it was time to end COVID. Will they end the government shutdown as well?

Centrists and moderates, what have you done for America lately?

Reminds me of the white moderates MLK warned about so many years ago.

Just useless.

Americans have endured the pain of the longest government shutdown in history for a “deal” that guarantees nothing on healthcare.

If Republicans wanted to vote to extend subsidies, they would’ve done it already.

Capitulating is unacceptable.

JUST IN: A bipartisan Senate deal has been reached to fund the government through January 30 and to set a vote on an Affordable Care Act bill in December, according to a source familiar with the matter. https://cnn.it/47zobyt

My prediction is that 2026 will be the year of progressive challengers.

Not bc Dem voters are all socialists, but bc the question that will determine the fate of incumbents in primaries is:“Will you fight hard against Trump?”

Easier for candidates with lefty stances to make the “yes” case.

Republicans are going to laugh at Democrats and do nothing on healthcare. They will continue helping Trump fulfill Project 2025.

Dems learn nothing.

Maybe important to note it was the disruption in air travel that Democrats couldn't stand and not, you know, 40+ million people not knowing where their next meal was coming from.

Schumer put the nail in his own coffin and the Democratic Leadership. It's done. Just a matter of time. Ditto Centrists.

They have misread the moment and the rage of the people.

Trump and MAGA will continue playing them because they know they are weak.

One thing from our piece on Saturday: Sen. Shaheen is leading the Senate cave caucus. She's on the appropriations committee and wants whatever little goodies she got in her appropriations bill passed into law. As we wrote:
