Representing the People of PA’s 12th Congressional District. PA’s first Black US Congresswoman. Breaking cement ceilings. She/her.

Committees: Oversight & Government Reform and Education & Workforce.
We need a just, humane immigration reform, not a system that is built off of the same cruelty, inequity, and exploitation that we see in our criminal legal system.

Wishing a joyous and peaceful first night of Kwanzaa to everyone celebrating in Western PA and across the country!

As we reflect on the first principle of Umoja (unity), let us remember that our freedoms are deeply connected, and our work towards collective liberation continues.
December 26, 2025 at 8:28 PM
Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all who celebrate in Western PA and beyond! This season we are reminded of the power of loving our neighbors, uplifting vulnerable communities, and working towards peace.

May you have a holiday filled with warmth, joy, and community.

We're taught that our vote is our voice, but that voice is being drowned out by big money and special interests who seek to dilute our power and push corporate agendas instead.

My Abolish Super PACs bill would ensure billionaires and corporations can't buy our government.
December 24, 2025 at 9:54 PM
You can't support the oppressed and oppressor at the same time––history has made that clear.

Republicans should take a lesson out of the history books and realize they can't support workers while also doing the bidding of corporate bosses and special interests.
December 24, 2025 at 4:08 PM
Americans are going bankrupt for basic care, and so many of my Republican colleagues can't be bothered to bat an eye.

I have family members and constituents who are already feeling the burden––it will only get worse if we don't act now to extend the ACA subsidies.

I'm excited to announce our Congressional App Challenge winner, Jeffery Zhang, a PA-12 high school student who won with his app Isomer Enumerator.

The talent and innovation in our district is incredible––congrats Jeffery and thank you to everyone who participated!

We live in the wealthiest nation in the world, yet millions of people can't afford to go to the doctor when they're sick or they have to ration their medicine to pay their rent.

It's well past time we pass Medicare for All so Americans aren't going bankrupt for basic care.
December 21, 2025 at 4:09 PM
Trump's Dept. of Education has referred to social-emotional learning as "illegal DEI" and threatened to revoke funding from schools that implement SEL, but they're inviting witnesses to our committee hearings that tout the benefits of SEL when it serves their agenda.

Most transparent admin in history? These redactions are an absolute mockery of the survivors of Epstein’s abuse and the American people.

The DOJ is still compelled by our subpoena to release the full, unredacted files to the Oversight Committee. This cover up must end.
December 20, 2025 at 7:07 PM
Why can't we keep guns out of our schools? Or pass climate change legislation? Or make sure everyone has healthcare and dignified housing?

It's because of money in politics. We can't have a duopoly and a democracy at the same time.
December 20, 2025 at 3:46 PM
For months, Trump's DOJ has defied our subpoena to release the full, unredacted Epstein files. Now they're breaking the law.

@oversightdemocrats.house.gov are exploring all legal options because regardless of party, title, or wealth, anyone complicit in these crimes will be held to account.
Joint statement by Ranking Members Robert Garcia and Jamie Raskin on Trump Administration decision to defy Epstein Files Transparency Act.
December 19, 2025 at 5:48 PM
Instead of doing anything about the healthcare crisis they've created and supporting the millions of people who stand to lose healthcare, Republicans are wasting our time with hearings that bash workers and unions.

We've gotta stop the madness. It's workers, not conglomerates, who need protection.
December 19, 2025 at 2:46 AM
Tomorrow is the deadline for Trump to release the full, unredacted Epstein files, but let's not forget the DOJ has been on the hook to release them since my motion to subpoena passed in July.

It's well past time for transparency and justice for the survivors.
December 18, 2025 at 7:24 PM
Donald Trump and his DOJ cannot hide what's in the Epstein files forever.

We passed a motion to subpoena the DOJ back in July, and we will keep fighting for the release of the full, unredacted files so that the wealthy and powerful can be held to account.
December 18, 2025 at 1:22 AM
In the wealthiest nation in the world, no one should go without healthcare.

We have bipartisan support to extend the ACA subsidies––now it's on Speaker Johnson to bring it to a vote immediately.
December 17, 2025 at 9:42 PM
Republicans have hit a new & disgusting low with Marjorie Taylor Greene's bill that would put parents & doctors in jail for providing gender affirming healthcare.

Trans kids deserve support, love, & care that affirms their needs, not cruel, despicable attacks on their existence.
December 17, 2025 at 8:51 PM
Once again, universities are intimidating, censoring, and trying to punish students for exposing injustice while protecting the actual bad actors––this time to protect a person of interest in the Epstein files

We should all be standing up against threats to student activism and free speech.

We finally got the 218 signatures needed to force a vote on extending the ACA subsidies while we work to fix our broken healthcare system.

Speaker Johnson must call a vote immediately so that folks won't have to worry whether they can afford to go to the doctor when they're sick come January.
December 17, 2025 at 3:49 PM
This week, the deadline for Trump's DOJ to release the files under the Epstein Transparency Act is up.

Even if Trump tries to run out the clock, the American people will not let up. We will keep pushing for transparency and justice for the survivors.
December 16, 2025 at 10:37 PM
And let's not forget that this rate is much higher for Black women who have been systematically pushed out of their jobs by the Trump admin's harmful policies.

Black women deserve jobs and workplaces that support their livelihoods, not force them out.
December 16, 2025 at 9:00 PM
Speaker Johnson has continued to allow his caucus to spew blatant, vile Islamophobia and downright violent rhetoric.

This Congress must not allow elected officials to use our Muslim neighbors and constituents as scapegoats. Rep. Fine should be held to account.
December 16, 2025 at 7:19 PM
Nexstar’s proposed acquisition of Tegna would create a media giant that would likely raise prices & drive layoffs, all to boost profits for CEOs.

I joined @warren.senate.gov & my colleagues to urge the FCC to conduct oversight of this deal & to block it if they find it violates antitrust laws.
December 16, 2025 at 5:20 PM
I've seen the Epstein files that are with @oversightdemocrats.house.gov, and I can tell you that the only redactions are to protect the identity of survivors.

Our subpoena to the DOJ calls for the full, unredacted files. It's past time for the Trump admin to comply and release the files.
