I was driving to NYC last week and the Colin McEnroe show was rerunning this episode from 2017 in anticipation of the release of the new Frankenstein movie.

It’s an amazing analysis of the book and the movies and their place in modern culture.

A long and comprehensive opinion, but this jumped out at me: The judge accused the Federal Protective Service—which was called in to suppress the protests—of lying under oath to slander the regular Portland police.😬

DOJ recently admitted that other FPS claims in this case were objectively false.

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

I'm always saying this. Signaling is inevitable, it's up to you what you signal
virtue signalling is good actually
Performative decency is actually *so* important for this reason.

It tricks the 10% of ghouls into thinking that there are only 1% of ghouls.

And it makes the 30% of people that don't care one way or another follow the mostly decent crowd

Attention has (justly) gone to the abuses in Chicago but the assaults in Los Angeles never ended. The military left but they were guarding building. DHS paramilitaries remain active in L.A. it's bad.
Don’t think ppl understand the terror the Feds are unleashing on the streets of LA right now. Roving patrols targeting vulnerable individuals. It’s horrible.

There’s no one coming to save us except ourselves.
The past week+ has been really intense in Los Angeles. We need all of the help, support, & attention we can get. Feds are literally roving the streets snatch & grabbing vulnerable individuals. It's horrific. We need to do more.

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column
I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

The factional grifters will hate this, but the Mamdani-Spanberger-Sherrill axis actually suggests the outlines of a broad, emerging Dem coalition organized around both anti-Trump *and* affordability politics, not a party bitterly divided against itself.
These big wins will embolden Dems to take on Trump's lawbreaking and show there's a price for GOP enabling of him. Folks hate to hear this, but normal patterns are asserting themselves: Liberalism isn't dead, Rs are likely to lose in 2026, and Trump is really unpopular, not a magical exception.

Part of what’s happening here is the idea that supporting candidates like Obama and Harris is itself somehow “far left” as if they never won contested elections or had any political talent of their own and supporting any prominent Black person is somehow “radical”
yeah their premise only works because theyve convinced themselves the democratic party has been catering to far left goals despite all evidence to the contrary
