I will say the absolutely coolest thing about this site, for me at least, is how many authors are here trying their damnedest to get their words read. Because we do write to be read.

One of the biggest reasons is that many white people don’t want to accept that their friends and family that support him are actually bad people.
Too many people in this country reduce racism to calling Black people “nigger.” And as long as you don’t use the magic word, you have plausible deniability.

i get the cynicism that outrage over Trump's racist post will change minds but the breadth of the GOP criticism is significant -- Collins, Curtis, Wicker, and Scott (among others) are out with statements unequivocally denouncing it. It's a step in the right direction from "I haven't see the tweet."
