Over past day or so notice I’ve gained a large amount of followers. No idea why & tbh I don’t use this site enough to follow most back so no worries if you want to unfollow. Also this is a pretty boring account.
Quite a few are news aggregator accounts, & sorry but not my thing to follow those back

Labour did this in the past. It was an appalling, terrifying experience for school friends and communities. It’s now a Trump copycat policy.

🚨 | JUST IN: Barça has already formally requested from La Liga the return to the Camp Nou.

The club has sent the documentation so that La Liga can give the OK to play Saturday's Barça-Athletic match there.

The club expects to obtain the municipal license today.

Stepping back from these policies and getting rid of McSweeney would not be enough.

Under Starmer's leadership, the government has eagerly embraced cruelty and racism as its animating energy.

This is disgusting and unforgivable and he, as the leader, has disgraced himself and the Labour party.

I think Brexit was garbage. But if in 2025 you're still pedalling "all we need to do is reverse Brexit!" you're ignorant. Everything before Brexit was fine, obviously. It was definitely ALL Brexit and not the six years of austerity before that and the 31 years of untempered Thatcherism before that.

Maybe strip billionaires of the power to convert media outlets and social media sites into right wing propaganda arms?

How big a piece of shit would you have to be to buy the confiscated jewelry of asylum seekers at a government auction?

If I was devising a set of announcements to elevate (but not satisfy) the hard right, alienate the middle ground and completely discourage your base, I couldn’t come up with a much better strategy than McSweeney and Number 10

Look, what choice do Labour have? If they use money to actually help people then they wouldn’t be able to throw lots of money at companies needing to build AI data centres. It’s the most difficult moral dilemma of our time…
The Sun has been told Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood will on Monday propose confiscating jewellery, watches, necklaces from asylum seekers to meet asylum costs

This reflects the most controversial aspect of the Danish scheme - the Jewellery Law. The toughest Labour MPs thought this was OTT

I do hope those sensibles telling me that Labour's new policy was fair and sensible are enjoying Tommy Robinson's endorsement of it this morning.

That's who you've joined.

In 2023-24 HMRC issued 456 penalties to wealthy individuals for £5.8m, 25 prosecuted.

Tax scams designed by accountants, lawyers; five prosecutions in 2023-2024.

Govt taking powers to snoop on benefit claimants' bank accounts; mainly poor, old, sick. Nothing equivalent on tax abuse industry.
Nothing will change until the political system is freed from the clutches of corporations and the super-rich

Billionaires who pushed to slash their benefits, then broke the NHS, the poor shrugged while the rich wrote off private jets as tax deductions, then ran off to Dubai.

All of this not because it helped them, but because they were told it would hurt less deserving minorities 2/2

When we look back at this period, historians won’t be stunned by the greed of the elite, they’ll be stunned by the loyalty of the poor.

Some members of the working class didn’t just vote against their own interests. They worshipped the billionaires robbing them 1/2

Shabana Mahmood on the BBC this morning talking about desperate people fleeing war and persecution as being given a "golden ticket" and "handouts" and saying she's got a "moral mission" to take them away from them

Shabana Mahmood and the Politics of Extortion
Labour's strategy of telling its supporters to back Reform-style policies, or get a Reform Government, is the politics of the protection racket and it is not going to work

This morning, his Home Secretary is loudly letting the world know that the government intends to make the lives worse of even those found to be genuine refugees.
