It is genuinely incredible to me how much evidence there is to support investing in the public good and how much animus there is to do this simple, effective thing.

He said that the agents would throw food at them to eat. The agents threatened to withhold food for a week and to beat him up if he didn't sign deportation papers. He said he saw others refuse and get beaten/receive no food. He signed because he was afraid.

@unholypod.bsky.social I really enjoy the podcast though I felt Yair Rosenberg gave in to a lot of kneejerk reactions to Mamdani, and a lot of dumb right wing propaganda.

There is something deeply broken about an economy that creates trillionaires while people get buried under the cost of living and 42 million go hungry. The ultra-rich should realize that my Billionaires Income Tax, aimed at ensuring they pay their fair share, represents the moderate path forward.

Right: You're trying to make me sit under your vine!
Left: ...
Right: I'm projecting again, aren't I?
Left: Little bit.
Right: Sorry -- it's just that you're all pedophiles trying to steal elections.... Damn it, I'm doing it again.

“not great, bob”
Every single constitutional amendment on the ballot in Texas passes, enshrining "parental rights" in the state constitution and making it easier for Greg Abbott to pack the state commission that disciplines judges, as well as tax breaks for "border security infrastructure."

Guillermo del Toro on wealth: "a wealthy man is a man who has enough, not a man that needs more. If you have enough to invite someone for a beer? You're rich. If you have a yacht, planes, islands, and you still need more? You're not rich."

If I were running the DNC, there would be Democratic Party sponsored food relief banks across the country right now that specifically welcomed anyone regardless of party affiliation.

Along with the food, there could be voter registration and links to runforsomething.net

many conversations I have had with complete normie libs, the kind who have a tote bag from donating to NPR and shop at Whole Foods, involve the kind of rhetoric that under no circumstances should be put on the internet

people are very mad
look i was recently talking to a septuagenarian life long dem (who shall remain nameless) and generic lib, and she was like “i just think there should be firing squads and they should sell tickets.”

I've seen a lot of "gotta give it to Trump" takes that ignore this point.
So many more hostages could have been saved had Netanyahu not made his priority devastation of Gaza and indiscriminate killing of Palestinians and had Trump engaged previously instead of promoting his ridiculous Gazan rivera plan. (2/2)

When Trump starts staying at Bezos’s yacht, will the press call that the Maritime White House?
Critical part of the President's new $100,000 charge for H1-B visas: The Administration can also offer a $100,000 discount to any person, company, or industry that it wants. Replacing rules with arbitrary discretion.

Want visas? You know who to call and who to flatter.
