I understand why they would both individually want to de-emphasize it, but it would probably behoove someone in leadership to make some noise about the fact that two (Black) Dem Congress members have been physically assaulted by Trump supporters in the span of like four days.

This is your regular reminder that the data broker industry must be destroyed.
2. ICE is buying your private location data from sleazy data brokers through a legal loophole. I've had a bill to stop this since 2021. I'm renewing my push to get it passed into black letter law as soon as possible.

Little preview of Junji Ito's forthcoming MOBY DICK adaptation. He seems to be... taking a few liberties with the original text lol.

If, like me, you think the best part of the WITCHER tv series is the spunky village girl who spends the first episode auditioning to be Geralt's murder apprentice and then is never seen again, good news: she has a pretty good (if occasionally tonally goofy) Agatha Christie miniseries on Netflix.

Any complaints I might have about STARFLEET ACADEMY go out the window the moment Holly Hunter steps into frame.
I was dubious, and the start of the first episode was really not quelling my doubts, but actually by the end of episode 2 I am kind of digging STARFLEET ACADEMY. The cast is brimming with charm, and the show actually seems to want to use them.

In 2020, Trump supporters objecting to covid restrictions protested at the Michigan state house, openly carrying firearms, including semi-automatic rifles. They then stormed the building, while the legislature was in session.

None were shot. Or beaten. Or gassed. One was arrested. For drunkenness.
Kash Patel: "You cannot bring a firearm, loaded, with multiple magazines to any sort of protest that you want. It's that simple. You don't have a right to break the law." (Pretti was carrying a gun legally.)

I poked into Facebook to learn that my college (and intermittently post-college) DM was among the clergy that trucked out to Minneapolis. Maybe like the third time in my life I've actually experienced pride.
I have to admit I am tacitly pleased that my entire dnd group is basically "yo fuck this" on the community discord
My buddy's 15 year DnD group is imploding because a couple of the long time players are defending the ICE murders and everyone else is appalled. This is a red line for normal people in a "get the fuck out and never talk to me again" way. The evil and injustice is instantly recognizable.

Something a little different. Some cartoonists put out a call for comics about local ICE experiences. This one happened a few months ago so it's a little older than current events, but it's a story that I never stopped thinking about. #ICEoutcomics

A reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

I’m completely fed up with elected Representatives saying shit like, “Republicans will tell you behind closed doors that they don’t agree with what ICE is doing”.

Playtime is over. Professional courtesy no longer exists.

Name them, record them, and make it public.

This, 1000%. So many of the tactics, media/spin strategies, and orgs (DHS/ICE) are direct products of the 911/Iraq era, were built to eventually to EXACTLY THIS, and were left in place for 20 years by Congress members who were either afraid of Fox News, or liked having these tools in their arsenal.
It is really important to stress that Congress shares a significant amount of responsibility for what is happening and what has been happening, long before this month
Reminder: All it would take to end the murder of American citizens by an untrained government goon squad is 16 Republicans in Congress voting with Dems to defund ICE (or 23 to impeach and remove Trump — 3 in House & 20 in Senate). That’s it. 23 Americans can vote for the public and end all of this.

It just now strikes me that the United States, unlike every other democracy in the world, has never ever ever had an early presidential election. This seems like a problem? Like you need to have an institutionalized path for designating an entire administration illegitimate and voting for a new one?

Once again, immigration is not even a problem. Immigrants are not more criminal, they don't cost jobs, they don't harm the economy. There is no reason for any of this. It is hurting ourselves to hurt them.
