So I THINK what this is is a kind of boiled organ sauce or stew (or maybe "chowder", actually?), served alongside the swan itself (presumably roasted, or/or from another recipe)? I think the meat they're chopping is the organ meat, but I'm not 100%.

I guess American can have a little "turnabout is fair play," as a treat.

It would be so. easy. to parley these images into some batshit conspiracy theory right now. You could just say "omg someone set off a bomb in the White House and they're trying to cover it up!" and you'd be getting calls from Alex Jones within a week. Wouldn't even have to break out the weird stuff.

HOLOCURE - SAVE THE FANS! (2022 🎮)

A HOLOLIVE (which I know nothing about) fan game, basically VAMPIRE SURVIVORS with vtubers. Less exploration/discovery than VS, but the characters all have skills that offer more unique/complex playstyles, and the poppy environments/vibes are less monotonous.

VAMPIRE SURVIVORS (2022 🎮)

Okay, I get why everyone was so obsessed with this. Addictive, deceptively deep, with a ton of secrets and unlocks to ferret out. While I appreciate the simplicity, I feel like a lot of the environments are a little TOO sparse, especially for their size.

MINI METRO (2015 🎮)

On the one hand, MOTORWAYS's predecessor is even simpler, which is both repressive and compelling, gameplay-wise. On the other hand, I feel like the pace of it is not as good--it seems to get out of hand quickly, and for reasons that (to me) aren't always super clear.

MINI MOTORWAYS (2019 🎮)

Delightful minimalist traffic management sim, a real masterpiece of visual and sound design that manages to dole out calming zen vibes and abject panic in equal measure.

GOLDEN IDOL MYSTERIES dlc (2023 🎮)

SPIDER OF LANKA is great, but too short, imo, to really support its themes of conspiracy and manipulation.

LEMURIAN VAMPIRE is just too short--too many actions confusingly crammed into too small a space, although the big reveal hits hard, regardless.

THE CASE OF THE GOLDEN IDOL (2022 🎮)

A cool approach to the mystery genre, w/ a story that escalates between scenes in wonderfully sharp and unpredictable ways (although sometimes the smaller interstitial plot are unnecessarily confusing *cough*Walter Keene).

Really should be "CURSE," not "CASE".

You almost never see the Pollocks that look like this, which (again, to me) are in fact quite compelling:

See also: Jackson Pollock, whose name is basically a meme at this point. Most Pollocks that reach the general public look like this, which again really does nothing for me:

But a couple months ago, Mondrian's "Composition 8" popped up in my feed and I was like "oh shit, do I not hate Mondrian?" It's still just squares and colors, still abstract, but I find it much more affecting than his more famous works.
October 15, 2025 at 3:22 PM
Example: the art world loves Mondrian's "Flat Squares Of Primary Colors" era, which to me is like the least evocative thing ever set to canvas:
