It turns out that protecting hate speech did not create the conditions to protect other kinds of speech; instead, it protected hate and allowed hate movements to take over all the institutions of that might have defended the rest of us.

in a typical display of bias, Rhiannon refuses to list the literally dozens of countries that Israel has NOT bombed this week
🧵In the past week Israel has bombed: Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, and now Qatar. In Yemen the prime minister and multiple cabinet members were assassinated. In Qatar the Hamas negotiators who were called there by the US to review a ceasefire proposal were targeted. These are acts of

As someone who has run an actual non-ridiculous independent media operation for over two decades which has lost multiple sponsors due to our public "we're against fascism" stance... to hear that Weiss might get $200 million for basically justifying and whitewashing fascism... is... frustrating.
FT Exclusive: Weiss has met with David Ellison, the incoming owner of CBS News, over a potential deal to sell her three-year-old media company, according to several people familiar with the matter. https://on.ft.com/4eZ6WbM

It's even dumber. Because Mr. "No this is not genocide" got mad about the bed bug joke because he claimed calling him a bedbug was basically one step towards actual genocide.

“Polls that say the public likes things that I don’t are misleading! How can these things be popular when I dislike them and I am a member of the public?!”

Ironically he’s doing the exact thing he’s accusing others of - failing to study public opinions accurately when he dislikes the results.
This is why I emphasized "study public opinion accurately."

Progressives have invested huge sums of money in misleading polls to convince people that all of their ideas are popular when it isn't true and it's been very damaging.

Nearly every Democratic platform policy is broadly popular and nearly every Republican platform policy is broadly unpopular. I don't understand what you're suggesting would be different. Even if no Democrat held any unpopular position, Fox and Co would claim they did anyway.

Some guy on Twitter made a point of announcing that thousands upon thousands of men are descended from rapists, and we women "aren't going to like it when [they] stop asking nicely."

Which, you know, surprise surprise brother, but you're also not going to like it when we stop refusing nicely.

Gotta love Joe Biden having a historically low pardon rate—even though plenty of people are suffering because of HIS awful 1994 crime bill—but making a principled exception to (checks notes) pardon his own son.

Can we stop all pretending he’s not an lying, hypocritical scumbag now?

A lot of people responsible for poor decisions are on a press tour right now because if they didn’t, people would rightfully be questioning THEIR leadership and they know it.

It’s weak even by normal left-punching standards. Zero evidence more Liz Cheney would have won this. The opposite, actually.

I wonder how the “Israel isn’t an apartheid state” people square the fact Israelis are committing terrorist attacks on aid trucks on a daily basis with complete impunity with how Palestinians are treated for throwing stones.

Guessing they just pretend it doesn’t happen.

I will once again remind everybody — including a lot of folks who really should know this — that being Jewish and being Zionist (at all cost) are two different things. There's a parallel here with the Iraq War; "If you're against this war you're unamerican".

Genocide is *not* a Jewish doctrine.

What we learn here is that Israeli bombing of Gaza was not indiscriminate. It was targeted, calculated, and algorithmic. But the information and models that were fed to the AI systems were so perverse, that it was probably just as bad as indiscriminate shelling.

An indiscriminate shelling—munitions falling at random—would have been better.

The IDF targeted as many *residences* as could be struck by available munitions.

By doing that, "Lavender" and "Where's Daddy?" likely struck more noncombatants than an indiscriminate shelling would have.

It’s wild that people still pretend the IDF is in any way “moral” when it goes out of its way to ensure there are zero consequences for murdering completely innocent people for no good reason.
One telling aspect of the targeted drone strike on World Central Kitchen is how, as Israel approaches its 200th kill of a humanitarian worker, neither Netanyahu nor the IDF even pretends there will be consequences for the soldiers or changes in policy.

Because it is the policy.

Imagine how many other times the IDF has murdered people just trying to get or distribute food that went unnoticed.

Palestinians have been screaming about this for months, with Israel insisting they only target confirmed terrorists.

Maybe now more people will listen.
If you think this can still be explained away as an "accident," consider also that the second car was hit only after picking up survivors from the first strike, and the third car was hit only after it had picked up survivors from the second.
We accidentally hit three specific cars spread out along 2.4 kilometers of road
