I made a starter pack of people I follow who (a) post about news, politics, and law a lot, (b) don't post about a ton of other things, (c) have interesting takes that make me think. don't be offended if you're a mutual but not included, it's probably bc of (a) or (b) not (c) go.bsky.app/AqgdUFZ
this is true but by keeping silent about the maneuver, every last senate dem is complicit in this lie being sold to their own voters. it makes me angrier than the fold tbh
More than just 8 but less than all of the Senate Dems
Whole point of this maneuver being we don’t know who exactly it was that supported it. Yes, “institutionalists,” tell me more about how the filibuster promotes good governance

evidently we don't need to remember exactly why we're mad if every few months they're going to do the same thing to remind us

The difference is that they made a hell of a lot of federal workers miss paychecks and snap recipients worry about where their next meal was coming from. You can’t play with people‘s live like this without delivering anything.
The people mad today were equally mad six months ago when the same thing happened and then forgot it happened mostly. With that said I think the risk for Dems is that the rage persists in an inchoate way that can’t even really be cured, since no one remembers where it came from

The whole reason we had this shutdown in the first place is that Democrats were skittish over a year of polling saying everyone in America associated them with the word "fold"

imo this is bullshit. I have woken up incandescently mad at dem leadership and the senate dems just about every day since February. dem polling is in the tank because THEIR OWN VOTERS DON'T LIKE THEM. some people are so tired of them they're willing to overlook a fucking nazi tattoo

anyway if dems think I'm gonna forget this shit in 5 months, they're wrong. if they think I'm gonna forget it in 5 years, they're wrong. they have fully convinced me that purging the party of these inept losers in the senate is more important than retaking the senate in the next election cycle

Senate Democrats: what just happened under our current leadership is a total travesty
Also Senate Democrats: i have nothing to say about whether our current leadership may be part of the problem

I guess it's called "corruption." I've never heard that before. I said wow what a beautiful word. It comes from the Latin [spicy voice] corrumpere. But it's something we're doing and we'll be doing it perhaps more than ever before

bill kristol and his less radical allies, the online communists,
this is why both online communists and people like @billkristolbulwark.bsky.social are better allies right now than someone like angus king. it's painful to confront that reality but it is the reality and the sooner everyone accepts, the sooner we can build a better one and better future
i’m ready to look past differences and align with anyone who actually believes we are in an existential fight. unfortunately that doesn’t include significant number of elected democrats!!

Rhetorical pleas against infighting are always begging the question about who's actually on the same side as you.
The sooner we get past internal recriminations and back to fighting united, the better off we all are — the likelier our victory next November.

Democracy kinda depends on voters hearing accurate facts and analysis more than they hear made up nonsense, and that’s kinda sort of an issue
The actual finding here is that a huge percentage of the population believes things that are not true. Democrats objectively did not spend significant time on climate change or LGBTQ issues in the last election campaign.
Duh. Those of us on the ground last year actually speaking with middle class/working class voters and who heard from these voters every single day the same - “Trump is an asshole, but Democrats are out of touch” - could’ve saved my new political party a lot of time & money producing this “report.”👇

my strong suspicion is that dems believe they’ll coast to major gains in the midterms no matter what, and their awful posture right now on all the horrors is less about winning next november and more about what they’re rhetorically committed to do should they win

Yes, and now everyone realizes we can't win with this team. Time to blow it up and rebuild. Tank for some picks.
No one’s feelings are wrong. That’s not my point. We’re in a real battle, against a corrupt and malevolent foe, with huge stakes. We must win.
