“slipped out of the discourse” and “forgot it happened” are not the same thing! they’re very different! the latter makes people sound like mindless reactionaries ping ponging from one outrage to another

will the post is condescending to and dismissive of people who are raging hot mad now, including me. i don’t know what response you expect from that but condescending and dismissive gets bad responses from people who aren’t already pissed off, and you are aiming it people who are

the best i got is it has to do with polarization in metal, which in turn has to do with the ability of electrons to move freely between the atoms of the metals. maybe? and so you can end up with positive and negative dipoles…?

evidently we don't need to remember exactly why we're mad if every few months they're going to do the same thing to remind us

this is a perfect distillation of where we disagree. I have very strong ideas about what's needed to fix the judicial branch, it's actually my area of expertise, and I have no confidence whatsoever that dems as currently constituted would do even a tenth of what needs to be done on it.

lol 7-2 would be worse than 6-3 but we are already in the 6-3 world my man. the judicial branch is fuckin gone. stopping a nomination is nothing when the actual project is like expanding the court to 15, instituting term limits, and breaking the 5th and 1st circuits (at minimum).

The whole reason we had this shutdown in the first place is that Democrats were skittish over a year of polling saying everyone in America associated them with the word "fold"

I kind of think both Takes are right here. All us sickos remember, but a lot of people who aren't quite so engaged are probably just left with the vague impression that the Democrats are feckless

47 fighters would do more to slow down the harm being done than 53 chuck schumers. we've seen that when the shoe was on the other foot and the GOP ground the dem agenda to a halt with only 41 senators

I do not think "controlling the senate for 2 years" is the same as "removing the fascists from power" nor anywhere even in the same ballpark. fascists control the executive and judicial branches. if we want to remove them from power we need a legislature willing to actually stand up to them

I would like to remove the fascists from power, and I think step 1 in doing that is putting together an opposition party that wants to defeat the fascists, not pass bipartisan legislation with them.

what would these dems if trump told them to fuck off? send him an angry letter? beg john roberts to get him in line? that's their track record! it's not good enough.

the ship has fully sailed on confirmations so I'm not sure what value holding the senate from 26-28 has in that arena. and I don't think trump gives a shit what a dem senate does or does not approve, he doesn't give a shit what a GOP-controlled one approves

the question isn't what some imaginary "we" "could" do with the senate, the question is what *the democratic senate caucus as currently constituted* WOULD do with a senate majority, and they are loudly and repeatedly telling you what they would do: dicking around with bipartisan pocketbook leg
