how many people support transit fares because transit systems need passenger revenue, but oppose tolling every driver causing congestion and using those funds for transit?

(drivers cause traffic, thereby slowing down buses and increasing the cost of providing transit service)

Question for all the foamers out there who would know:
What, if any, is left of the former Broadway Limited route that was used by the Pennsylvania Railroad? I found something online that a lot of it was still around, as the Chicago, Fort Wayne and Eastern Railroad owns some, along with NS and CSX.

Chicago Burlington & Quincy 4-6-2 Pacific 2830 with bi-level cars on a commuter train at the Downers Grove coach yard in Illinois in the year 1952.

So just like the C&NW, CB&Q light pacifics pulled bi-level cars.

Not many surprises in the Chicagoland map (Rosemont and McCook/Bedford Park doing their thing), but I think it does provide a great visualization as to how the Balkanization of the inner burbs (especially West Cook and the Southland) work against suburban residents, not for them.

Guess we have to call our state reps again too
I just called the Chicago office and the staff person said he has not received the bill? How is that possible?

The misconception that driving is free for individuals (not to mention society), is very prevalent and very silly
i wonder how much of Americans' views on driving vs. transit would change if they had to pay for gas/insurance/etc every time they turned on the engine

"i'm not paying $5 to take the train to work twice a day when i can just drive" is a genuine opinion held by so many people

The IRS has determined it to cost $0.70/mile to drive, and the IRS usually has a good idea of what it costs to do something. That’s before parking costs.

As part of our commitment to expanding bus service in the city of Chicago, we're going to be building an additional bus stop next to every current stop. We estimate that this will not impact travel time.

Sure sounds like current board members are actively trying to sabotage the hard-fought #RevenuesAndReform of SB2111 through an amendatory veto.

We're not done yet: call @govpritzker.illinois.gov's office and tell him to sign SB2111 **as-is**!

Amtrak should be running both completely coach versions and completely sleeper versions of their long distance trains, along with the trains they have now.
What's your transportation urbanism opinion that you think would make other transportation urbanists mad at you?
