Realtors know that, in many parts of the country, if you educate people about climate risk, the housing market will collapse.

For example, the room of Canada’s top journalists heartily laughing as Poilievre mocks the concept of “Queers for Palestine” as “crazy.”

Yikes.

Fossil-fuel companies didn’t just respond to demand they spent decades creating it. They pushed governments to build highways, pipelines, gas systems, and car-dependent cities, locking society into fossil use. Through lobbying they secured subsidies, blocked clean-energy policies,

We can all laugh at the way the Peter states are spending money like they are drunk, but they are doing it not just to sanitize their image but to diversify because they see the writing on the wall. How come we can’t see that writing in Canada?
Look out BC! China’s LNG demand drops for 13th month running. Last week, Pakistan cancelled a huge contract to purchase LNG from Qatar (even choosing to pay a penalty) because they no longer need/want it -- the solar revolution is quickly displacing demand for LNG.

There is literally no reason for this party to exist.
Alberta's New Democrats know what it takes to get big projects done.

We built TMX because we did the hard work.

It's time for everyone to roll up our sleeves and get it done.

really good book.
Author John Vaillant, The Golden Spruce, describes Hecate: “The Strait is a malevolent weather factory. During winter storms, waves can reach 10-20 m and expose the sea floor. The result is one of the most diabolically hostile environments that wind, sea and land are capable of conjuring.” #cdnpoli

This whole MOU is based on lies. There's no such thing as "low emission" bitumen. CCUS does NOT work. Indigenous co-ownership IS NOT reconciliation. Doubling down on fossil fuels & AI data centres will NOT "lower costs." Both govts are putting corporations before the public interest. #CDNPoli #ABLeg

Mark Carney and Danielle Smith’s MOU is an abuse of power and a spit in the face to British Columbians. They will never ram a pipeline through BC without the consent of Coastal First Nations and Northern Communities, and we’ll make fucking sure of it. #bcpoli

This is a really good point. I used to get buttonholed at parties with 'Oh, I thought of you this morning, I saw a cyclist jump a red light'

Got to the point my standard reply was
'Don't know why. I don't think of you when I see an asshole in an *Audi/BMW/Merc* doing something dangerous every day.
Something I've been thinking about a lot lately is how when a driver does something wrong, the public and media don't smear all drivers as reckless assholes. But when a cyclist — and especially an e-biker — does something wrong, all bicyclists get attacked and blamed.

What, precisely, is the crisis? When will it be resolved? People have been talking about housing crises since the 80s. I agree that there’s a long-run upward drift in housing costs; I agree some high-cost metros have real issues. But what are we seeing right now that’s a nationwide crisis?

sure you might have objective evidence in the form of rent or mortgage payments suggesting that housing is much more expensive now than it used to be but consider the following: what if a glib idiot told you it wasn't
