the goal of hosted llms is to turn your $5,000 macbook into a dumb terminal. at some point, the VC subsidies will end, and you’ll have to decide if you can afford to pay sticker, or be totally cut off
the anthropic drama (tl;dr they blocked third party tools from using claude code subscriptions) is a useful reminder that you use LLMs at the pleasure of the companies providing them
