damn, crazy, the thing that Passkeys advocates said would never happen happened
Finally, a bank (is EQ a bank?) that supports passkeys. 🤩
Manulife also supports passkeys, but not synced passkeys.
Yes, synced passkeys are potentially worse than device-bound, but I think I am qualified to determine my own threat model thank you very much.

The Passkeys people saying "pinky promise we'll never use remote attestation" really falls flat in the face of years of bad behavior by the industry.

As always, Will Stancil is absolutely wrong.

Absolute abolition of zoning, height restrictions, design review etc, combined with a 100% land value tax, would result in housing prices being reduced by upwards of 33% all while actually growing the economy at a faster rate than it does today.
Yes, one of the things about the current obsessive focus on price-driven “affordability” is that affordable prices and economic decline go hand-in-hand. We’ve got like 60% of the political world actively campaigning for an economic meltdown, whether they realize it or not,
Ironically 2008 was a brief moment when buying a house became more affordable

Thanks to AI companies have decided that they don't need to do Search anymore. God forbid somebody tries to find what they're looking for instead of what you think they're looking for. Normalized lexemes were already enough.

Next you'll be getting mad that people say housing is unaffordable despite them being able to afford it (while being cost burdened).
What the “objective evidence” shows is that the share of income dedicated to housing is higher than before, but not by nearly as much as popular narratives make it seem, with increases heavily driven by a subset of renters. A long-term upward trend. Calling me a “glib idiot” doesn’t change the data.
sure you might have objective evidence in the form of rent or mortgage payments suggesting that housing is much more expensive now than it used to be but consider the following: what if a glib idiot told you it wasn't

We should build more in HCOL areas so that people can live there instead of in bombed-out rustbelt towns.

Simply move somewhere with no jobs or medical care or amenities if you're so concerned about expensive housing.

The plow, the steam engine, electricity — all replaced muscle. AI replaces cognition. If you spend your day “reading lots of stuff and turning it into straight English,” well… so does the machine. The goal now is to learn from history and cushion the blow better than last time.
