Klobuchar will absolutely throw transgender Minnesotans and immigrants to the fascist wolves.

No more sanctuary state under Klob.
I think the backdrop for all this is the rumor I heard (from a good, non-gossipy source) that Walz would step down and Klobuchar would run for governor. Sounds like that notion is getting around.
I think more people need to discuss the valid case that Walz running for a third term is a bad idea. Two terms are enough for an executive, and people are antsy for change. A contest would give the party a chance to duke this out a bit. Which I think is healthy. Instead, donors are closing ranks.

Bravo to Maggie Koerth @maggiek.bsky.social for this great piece, which ends with her call to have "high-status" people who are part of the in-group" i.e. white media personalities and politicians being willing to say crime is falling." Say it loud and say it proud. Well done, Maggie!
Koerth: Why do so many people think crime is up when it’s actually going down?
Maggie Koerth asks: Why do so many people — from the commenters on Crime Watch posts to the president of the United States — keep insisting that we live in a Mad Max hellscape?

Important thread about St. Paul's tax base problems. This is the 5-alarm fire for our city: a lot of legacy infrastructure and expenses + a huge share of untaxable land = we simply need more people to live here. A lot more.

I want people in leadership who will say that plainly. St. Paul must grow.
5/ Therefore as it currently stands, St Paul is not economically viable. There simply isn't enough revenue to run a city this size correctly, nor is there EVER GOING TO BE if all stays the same. It doesn't matter if you "tax the rich more" or "reduce taxes to attract", there's not enough density.

A matter of survival.
In a sane world, this would be the biggest, most important news story in the world.

‘Tipping points’ experts issue urgent message to world leaders.

“Every fraction of a degree above 1.5°C matters. And every year of “overshoot” matters too.”

“It’s ultimately a matter of survival.”

It’s important to know that a lot of productive activity is happening in person and offline, too.

Not all of it can be broadcast online, but we’ve had hundreds of people showing up to our trainings, mobilizations, and more.

Keep going. Tyranny is eroded by a sea of small acts. Everything matters.

calling is real. calls work. they don’t always get what you want — nothing in life does. that’s not a reason to not try, if you can.
I recently reposted a former congressional staffer who said that when an issue got 20-30 calls it would get representatives freaked out and ready to do something. It takes less than you’d think, because so few people actually take that kind of action

It’s been almost seven months since I broke my foot… And wow, does it feel good to get back on my bike.
Ran four errands. Felt the wind on my face. Way less painful than walking at this stage of my long recovery.
Hopefully next time I’ll remember my neck gaiter!
