The unity/coincidence of subject and object without one dominating the other is the essence of both reason and love

This notion is found in Schelling's idealism, Goethe's science, Fromm's humanism and Levinas' phenomenology

"Japan uses kawaii culture to cover up its war crimes" isn't wrong per se but very funny in the context that the countries that hate Japan the most for its war crimes are some of the largest enjoyers of Japanese kawaii culture

If a process generates opportunities for that much graft that means that it’s a bit too complex and is used by the big fish to keep the little fish out and raise prices. Nothing like making it even harder. Also you know what reduces homelessness, more homes.

i adore the DUP so much. probably the most consistently incompetent party on earth right now
Definitely the funniest bit of this is Vance’s Irish roots being debunked by a taxpayer-funded effort by DUP ministers trying to claim Vance for the unionist side.
JD Vance’s Irish ancestry claim hits a genealogical dead end

DUP-commissioned report fails to find a link between JD Vance — a self-declared Scots-Irish — and Ireland.

this really is a 19th century world
All potential great powers are insistent on suicide for some reason

US: (waves hands)
Russia: on year 3 of losing a conventional war to Ukraine
China: run by a deflation stan
EU: can't stop trading with a country that wants to kill them
India: national defense policy run by Republic TV
Must be wild to see your geopolitical rival commit suicide like this lmao

On the one hand the US government is demanding that Harvard give them recordings of every single one of their students so they can be disappeared to an offshore concentration camp for Thoughtcrime. On the other Oberlin had an article about culturally insensitive bahn mis in 2015
very cool that for ten years people at the heights of political commentary insisted to the point of rage that the paramount threat to free speech was “censorious” college students
after announcing that foreign students are being banned from Havard, Noem warns "this should be a warning to every other university to get your act together."

-Resistlibs are so cringe

In:

-They are fascists and segregationists
-You can predict them by just listening to what they will say they will do
me: they think it should be illegal to have black people in positions of influence

savvy, sophisticated pundits: don't be hysterical

the trump administration:
““You ‘highlight(ed) the number of Black officials in (your) administration,’” Dhillon wrote, quoting Johnson.”

An addendum to this:

You can’t have redistributionist demand policies if supply is inelastic, and many social goods that government provide (healthcare, education, green energy) are too inelastic right now
here’s my “abundance” thesis that will save you from having to read a whole book:

housing is good and progressives, particularly at the state/local level should be working to make it easier, not harder, to build it
instead of litigating beefs what if we just talked about good policy

see I did extremely well in math and you should google “median” and “mean” before you lecture me about what numbers mean
Well I did poorly in math in high school. But I do know a few things. For example, an average can be raised by an extreme outlier. In this instance, very very wealthy individuals bring the average numerical math upwards in a chart. But that is because of those outliers, not the common experience
well that’s sure embarrassing! why don’t you explain it to me, math man

This is a really big package.
It will give coverage to an entire city, or for an army group breaking through the Russian lines.
And enough APCs to bolster before said breaching.
🇮🇹🇺🇦According to multiple Italian media outlets, Italy is preparing its 11th military aid package to Ukraine, which reportedly will include:

•400 M113 armored personnel carriers (APCs)
•A SAMP/T air defense system
•Additional ammunition and supplies formiche.net/2025/05/ucra...

And yet Trump still whines about Zelenskyy
🇷🇺🚫 Putin did not even want to consider the 22-point plan prepared by the US, the Europeans and Kyiv, which Witkoff wanted to present to him, — FT

❌ After Putin refused to discuss this plan, Witkoff canceled his trip to Moscow last week (May 12-16).

Unironically kinda? The main UK export industries are spared, meaning no onshoring to US, the 10% on other goods suck but will hurt Americans more.
Lutnick says Trump did Britain a favor by letting them keep their car industry and only hitting them with a 10 percent tariff
