Currently reading Goethe and Schelling
Schelling draws the concepts of unlimited and limitation (akin somewhat to matter and form but not exactly) from Plato's Philebus. But as Naomi Fisher says, Schelling infuses more activity to 'limitation' than Plato does to mere 'limit'

A rather ecological viewpoint from Kant's pre-critical period. I don't know if this persists into his later works.

It's interesting Schelling doesn't cite Leibniz as much as he does Spinoza since his description of potencies ascending through nature seems very similar to the monads, particularly the idea that lower monads are like the higher but in sleeping form ––so organic perception is latent in all matter

On the possibility of a speculative physics, which is to cognise Nature as a thing-in-itself (rather than mere products/appearances/phenomena) in a way Kant and Fichte didn't believe was possible.
