WOW. So this is obviously a huge violation of this man's rights, and it illustrates a few things we're seeing broadly:

- DHS officers are ignoring peoples' IDs and instead requiring screening through their own systems
- Confirms @404media.co's reports of use of DHS's facial recognition app.

If we don't end the use of surveillance technologies, the tools will only become more pervasive and violent.

If we argue against a surveillance tool based upon its "accuracy" or suggest implementing oversight models, we're misunderstanding the problem.

Exxon is asking the Supreme Court to toss climate deception lawsuits, which could hold oil companies liable for billions in climate damages.

According to Exxon's lawyer, the cases are a "problem" and killing them is a "big priority."

Oil companies are once again asking the high court to intervene in climate deception lawsuits — part of an all-hands-on-deck effort by Big Oil and the Trump administration to shut the cases down.

The nation-state form bends towards fascism.

It is a tragedy of immense proportions that we didn’t learn this lesson after the end of WWII and, instead, treated Nazis as “war criminals” rather than nationalists doing the nationalist thing.
Tho tbh the very idea of war crimes legitimizes + ‘civilizes’ certain forms of state violence, what some folks might call good and necessary for the security/integrity of the nation
