Exxon has a new plan to sell more fossil fuels: stick carbon capture on massive gas-fired power plants for AI and brand them as climate friendly.

Critics say that's a dangerous fiction.

Thrilled to have @emorwee.bsky.social as my editor on this one!

Exxon’s new greenwashing ploy
The oil giant claims it can eliminate more than 90 percent of emissions from gas-powered AI facilities. Critics say that’s nonsense.

Exxon can continue its defamation case against California's AG, which legal experts told me last year was a "classic SLAPP suit" meant to silence opponents.

As the US govt proclaims that greenhouse gases don't harm human health, I'm remembering my trip to Port Arthur, TX for a @beyondplastics.bsky.social briefing. Oil refineries, petrochemical facilities, & children's playgrounds side by side. Insane rates of asthma and cancer. Absolutely ghoulish

Trump is wiping out all climate regulation. Big Oil may regret it.
For decades, oil majors fought climate regulation. Now, they’re afraid Trump’s extreme rollbacks could leave them on the hook to pay for what they’ve done.

Exxon is dropping law firm Paul Weiss, whose chair just resigned after his ties to Epstein were exposed, from representing the company in at least four climate lawsuits.
