- how the gas industry pushed state bills to redefine gas as “clean” energy
- how the DOE partnered with plastics lobbyists
- how Exxon is building CO2 pipelines through communities after Trump withdrew safety regs

@insideclimatenews.org exposed how oil companies other than Exxon — including Mobil, Amoco, Phillips, Texaco, Shell, Sunoco, and the predecessors to Chevron — were aware of the climate dangers of fossil fuels in the 1970s.

Oil executives still pushed doubt for decades.

From the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles to the deadly floods in Texas, the toll of Big Oil’s climate lies came into devastatingly clear focus in 2025.

But even as the fossil fuel industry races to escape accountability, communities are closer than ever to having their day in court.

Big Oil is selling the promise of “low-carbon data centers” using carbon capture, reports @emdashsanders.bsky.social.

But these plans could "easily transform into a sprawling build-out of high-polluting methane gas infrastructure" with lasting impacts to "the climate and communities nearby."

Washington remains under a state of emergency after more than a week of heavy rains and catastrophic flooding that has forced tens of thousands of people to evacuate.

Big Oil knowingly fueled the climate crisis, but lied — and now communities are paying the price. Accountability can’t wait.

Exxon has a new plan to sell more fossil fuels: stick carbon capture on massive gas-fired power plants for AI and brand them as climate friendly.

Critics say that's a dangerous fiction.

Thrilled to have @emorwee.bsky.social as my editor on this one!

"States’ rights and the right of citizens to hold corporations accountable in court must remain absolute."

100%.

Whether it's fossil fuels, pesticides, AI, or something else entirely, no industry should be above the law.

“Connecticut’s lawsuit against Exxon will not give us back the time oil companies stole from us with their lies, but it will put us on a path toward holding bad actors accountable,” write Reps. Mary Mushinsky and Steve Winter.
Opinion: Why Connecticut is one step closer to its day in court. It’s a win.
Why should our taxpayers be the ones burdened with the financial strain of climate change when it was Big Oil companies that knowingly spread disinformation and deception?

When corporations lie, they should be held accountable.

Now, our new report shows, oil majors are deceiving the public about solutions, selling "a false and misleading image of their industry as working to address the climate crisis, all while doubling down on fossil fuels."
