well, h*ck. half a million meals. that's pretty good. not enough--but certainly something, huh?

thanks to everybody who tossed some money in the pot, shared out the link, everything.

since it's a lot but it's not enough, the link's staying right here: teamfeed.feedingamerica.org/teams/7634
this is the first of these certs I've heard from a semi-real org, so I took a peek looking at the curriculum, I would call this "a splatter of paint on a wall"

there's useful things in here, but I suspect it's not going to be deep enough to be super applicable. I'd just go read the curriculum
Any opinions on csa’s taise certification?

I don’t like ai, I do have a need to understand it well enough for cybersecurity risk & compliance, and I’ve generally liked csa’s work. This cert is _very_ new, and so one consideration is whether the learning will be useful in 6mo.

"Nekrasova has made controversial statements in the past. In a 2023 New Yorker story, she was quoted as saying, “Francis is not the real Pope, we all know it. … You’re not gonna get rid of the Freemasons. You’re not gonna get rid of the Jews. They infiltrated the Church a long time ago.”"

Interesting stuff. Prints OK! As expected it became one with the print sheet, using goop next time. And there was a tiny bit of lifting on the first layer. But this stuff is neat. Unlike TPU though, it has a plastic deformation point you can easily get to with hand tools. TPU would bounce back here

The shutdown was an excuse, not a reason, to go after SNAP.

SNAP recipients have to re-apply either every 6 months or year. Onerous process, with almost no fraud.

There are no shutdown-related requirement for SNAP renewal. But it would predictably result in low-income families going hungry.

My grandfather got one of the early big screen HD TVs around the turn of the century. He was excited to watch sports on it, so turned on a Diamondbacks game.

We were then confronted with a high-def closeup of Randy Johnson’s face.

He turned to me and said “maybe not everything needs to be in HD”

This doesn’t mean we shouldn’t have tried, it’s just that even success required overshoot (ie, missing the target). And because it’s been framed as a “game over” threshold, media coverage of 1.5 has contributed to the idea that climate action is now pointless. That is not, and will never, be true.

had a "AI is fancy autocomplete" guy in my mentions a bit ago exactly as I got my local dev environment working so that the LLM is building integration tests, invoking them, and monitoring them. then actually fixing bugs.

the autocomplete's better than multiple standard deviations of developers.
