In compact countries like the Netherlands and the UK, most cities should be connected by car-free cycling highways. Smooth asphalt, no potholes. Cycling as transport and a boost to national health remains underrated (especially with e-bikes) and underpoliticised.

The Met Office is currently looking for people to suggest up to 5 names for storms.
It would be great if thousands all suggested the same 5 names (in alphabetical order as that's how storm names apoear):
BigOil, BP, Equinor, Exxon, Shell.

Cycling should feel liberating, not intimidating - but too many women are missing out because they don't think it feels safe. Will you ask your MP to support Cycling UK's 'My ride. Our right' campaign to give more women the freedom to cycle?

If you want kids off devices, get rid of the cars off their streets. Build more LTNs. Stop building car dependent sprawl. Kids want to play outside; it’s their parents who don’t let them because of subconscious (and understandable) fears about them being hit by drivers.
Ban 'no ball games' signs to get children off devices, play experts say
Experts say outdoor play in England has declined by 50% and are calling for urgent change.

Imagine if President Biden, from the White House, had publicly threatened to level “very serious consequences” against the richest man alive if he *dared* to give any money to the Republican Party.

It would be a scandal that would last years.

That is what Trump just did with respect to Elon Musk.

Once again, Montreal is showing the rest of North America how to transform streets for people — 8 commercial streets in Montreal will be “pedestrianized” [turned into great people-places] this summer with 7.3km across 6 boroughs. I've said before on Twitter but probably not yet on Bsky:

Car dependency makes people do bad things to their cars. You're coerced into needing an expensive depreciating asset and then additionally coerced into taking bad care of it.
This seems important — we’ve been talking for a long time about how “short trips” make up a LOT of traffic in cities & have BIG implications for pollution and GHG emissions. So it’s a big opportunity to convert them to walking or biking trips.

But guess what — they’re ALSO REALLY BAD FOR YOUR CAR.

You don’t stop this shit by firing on the people, you stop it by having LAPD arrest ICE for kidnapping. This is a fucking disgrace by every government party involved.
LAPD is now joining the fray. They are firing rounds of less lethals
