Emo about this. Taco John's is a treat when you live in Iowa and can't be going out to restaurants much. I know conservative assholes -- the same people who need to get Jesus out of their mouths -- are gonna be crashing this for their TikToks but whatever. Telling on themselves. Taco John's forever
It’s okay to be glad that restaurants are doing stuff like this AND absolutely furious about the utter failure of the United States government.

I'm going in on all this with the assertion that unostentatious "good taste" in dress was an evolved habit of elite camouflage in a modernity compelled to respect anti-elitist norms, & that the vile explosions of MAGA sartoriality are a return to the DGAF aristocratic excess of the pre-modern order.
Genuinely such an interesting long thread on why these suits look crap and yet how a particular type of crap suit has become a cultural signifier for right-wing men.
I can answer this. I interviewed Peterson's tailor a few years ago, although the interview was never published because I fell behind on work. Here is the story of this suit. 🧵

I heard there was a statue tall
That sneered at folk and commanded all
But you don't really care for symbols do ya
It goes like this the feet the fist
The head that fell the aim that missed
The long lost king whose name was Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymaaaaandias
That sneered at folk and commanded all
But you don't really care for symbols do ya
It goes like this the feet the fist
The head that fell the aim that missed
The long lost king whose name was Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymandias
Ozymaaaaandias
Once upon a desert sandy
As through winds the trav'ling man he
Spied the face of Ozymandy
Lying, simply lying there
Suddenly there was some writing
Pon the plinth that he was sighting
That the sand and time were blighting
Quoth the statue, "Now despair"
As through winds the trav'ling man he
Spied the face of Ozymandy
Lying, simply lying there
Suddenly there was some writing
Pon the plinth that he was sighting
That the sand and time were blighting
Quoth the statue, "Now despair"
There was an old man you could gaze
At his works in despair in a daze
If you looked upon them
And were mere mortal men
'Ozymandias mighty', it says
At his works in despair in a daze
If you looked upon them
And were mere mortal men
'Ozymandias mighty', it says

Vast and trunkless legs of stone
Ruined in the sand
No man is immortal
Vast and trunkless legs of stone
Ruined in the sand
No man is immortal
[To the tune of Eleanor Rigby]
Big Ozymandy,
Look at him stood on his plinth in the sand if you dare,
Time to despair

He gave it to victims he "never met,"
For things he "never did."

when reviewing a comic novel I care more about whether it’s funny than about anything else. if it isn’t funny it’s a bad book, I don’t fucking care how many bookers the author’s won.
