Perfect.

They say you can lead a horse to water but you can't make it drink. Martin just looks at the gasping horse, shrugs his shoulders and walks away.

His only ambition ever has been to be Taoiseach. Not to do anything with the role, just to be. Not to lead or innovate or inspire, just be Taoiseach.

Journalists - call things by their proper names.
Famine has not "struck" Gaza.
Israel has prevented food from entering an area that is under its effective control, resulting in civilian famine - a war crime, a crime against humanity, and an act of genocide.
Either say what you see, or let it be.

Singing about Northern Ireland in a disobliging manner: inappropriate.

The former human rights lawyer has spoken.
In a free society, it should be no business of the PM who appears at music festivals. But then, the job of politicians isn't to uphold a free society, but to punch down whilst sucking up to those in power. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Utterly insane that the fate of millions, even billions of living people is forever handcuffed to the whims of a handful of belligerent idiots with a God complex playing Jenga with humanity for personal gain during the blink of an eye that they're on this planet. The sheer pointlessness of it all.

The Taoiseach’s emotional response to unwelcome information - let alone outright opposition- has gradually become his defining characteristic as a leader.

He can’t abide being told he might be wrong.

This may be one of the most dangerous flaws as a leader.
Taoiseach calls report that found Ireland could face possible costs of €27 billion over unreached emissions targets “highly speculative and uncertain”.

Hugely irresponsible, even if we didn't know that climate collapse will be calamitous in every other way too.

Coincidentally read this part of Terry Pratchett's "Guards! Guards!" over lunch. (My first Pratchett book.) Here, the soon-to-be-former heads of the city are realizing there's a new monster in charge, each wishing one of the others would stand in protest. I heard Pratchett was incisive, but dang. 👀
