On November 17th last year I sold my first enamel pin badge at canopyrobin.etsy.com in an attempt to create a new stream of income that might eventually cover the expenses of trans healthcare instead of perpetual GoFundMes 🏳️‍⚧️

As we approach the anniversary, I'm going to celebrate one design each day
A grid of 16 enamel pins, stickers, and patches with queer, nature, and #SciArt themes. In order they are a rainbow tree, circular black pronoun pins, circular pride pins that say "It's dr actually", game changer pride stickers, rectangular pins that say "ask me about allyship", game changer pride pins, colour changing rectangular pronoun pins, rectangular pins that say "real allies take action", a rainbow frog, a miniature guidebook to trees, game changer fabric patches, a trans flag sticker, flowers in different pride colours, a trans fern, a colour change rainbow flower, and the gay man and lesbian pride flags with trans inclusive chevrons

Continuing my countdown to the 1 year pinniversary, today I'm celebrating my 9th design.

These pins were inspired by the terms used by scientists for flowers that are both male and female. They are known as 'bisexual' or 'perfect' canopyrobin.etsy.com/listing/4338... #SciArt

Last Friday, I had the honour of announcing the theme for LGBT+ History Month 2026, 'Science and Innovation'. This is my 5th LGBT+ History Month since starting with the charity in 2021!

This is an exciting theme for me as a queer science communicator.

I've seen the same thing happen with weird and wonderful things in nature. Yes, sometimes rivers are strange colours and animals have utterly mind bending adaptations – AI is making it so hard to communicate the baffling joy and absurdity of the universe

I spotted this on Mastodon and I find it horrible, not least for the speed with which this has happened.
A post on Mastodon by small cypress (@small_cypress@indieweb.social): As an art teacher I was worried AI would come up as an issue of "why should I learn how to draw when I can use AI instead." But the real issue is that my middle schoolers CONSTANTLY believe all art I show them is AI. Digital art. Photography. Oil paintings from the Western canon. "A human couldn't do that" Being convinced that humans can't make great art is kind of terrifying

A BBC article with the headline "Amazon tree-felling blamed for polluting UK rivers" and intro text "Tree-felling in the Amazon rainforest is partly to blame for pollution that is plaguing UK rivers such as the Wye, a new report suggests. It points the finger of blame at soy which is imported from vast plantations overseas and used as livestock feed, calling this a "hidden link" to the poor state of many waterways in Wales, and around the UK. The report from environment groups Size of Wales, external and WWF Cymru, external says the soy is high in phosphorus, and becomes a pollutant when animal manure spread on land runs off into rivers.".
