Trump’s new “affordability” push is basically reversing the tariffs he said would never cause un-affordability.

legitimately i think one of the core failings of centrist pundits is that they have come to define themselves by what they are against--to chart their intellectual course by who they think is being annoying this week--instead of by recourse to genuine principle

What a great day for finding out that a lot of things people thought were conspiracies are actually backed up by emails that are like hey pedo, let us pedo together in pedoland on the second day of the pedo month

Yeah it’s crazy, what possibly could be the reason for this?
Something that’s so striking in these emails is how…unimpressive Epstein is. He comes off as a pompous, sub-literate lech. Yes everyone is so mortifyingly solicitous of him! All fawning and flattery! Why?????

As someone who has professionally tried and now almost given up on pushing meaningful, moral messaging on my senators, they do not say this because it is not why they did it. They won't even lie and say the moral reason was their motivation. It is a huge problem.
instead of saying this was good strategy, maybe senate dems should say: "the republicans were going to kill people by starving them to death, and because we aren't monsters, we decided to let this fight go. We'll keep fighting. Stop electing monsters."

The reasons healthcare is expensive are straightforward, and the list does not include Obamacare cepr.net/publications...
Why Is Healthcare Expensive?
Americans overpay for healthcare due to drug patents, private insurance waste, and inflated medical salaries—despite Obamacare slowing cost growth.

Senators using that power to make people's lives better: nonono, this sucks

Man, Ive had the opposite experience in DC. Everyone with a grad degree thinks they’re history’s smartest boy bc of it, zero humility.
a lot of the problem with the Nates and Matts is that they didn't go to grad school. I don't think going ensures you aren't a blowhard knowitall, but it does make you understand that people have been working on shit for a long time and you can't just brush up in 3 hours because you are a special boy
As someone who spent ten years in grad school (and did defend + graduate) I’m always so weirded out by people who think being smart about one thing makes them smart about everything when what being highly educated did to me was saddle me with the crushing certainty that I’m not smart about anything

Capitulating Democratic senators waited until after the election, indicating they know capitulation was a bad politics that bothers their voters and reduces their chances of retaking power.

the reality is that they have already won & they do not want to change anything. they want a strong republican party, as they say often. the only time they put any work in is to sabotage candidates running to the left of them, otherwise they just sit around doing insider trading

Democrats just hate their constituents. Despise them to their very core for existing and expecting anything of them. If you can’t give them untold money, they want you dead.

Spanberger is such a craven, soulless piece of shit ghoul. The embodiment of the Virginia Democratic Party, second only in evil to the Republican Party, who at least has the courage of their vile convictions. These people believe in nothing except their Linkedin profiles.
Abigail Spanberger says Democrats' election wins aren't a green light to extend shutdown
The Democratic Virginia governor-elect said both parties should vote to open the government even if there's no deal to extend health care subsidies.

One of the talking points I keep seeing from Democrats is that part of the deal is that it will "ensure federal workers receive back pay" but that's the existing law!

That's not something you've won in negotiations. That's just the letter of the law. You don't get to claim that as a win.

We are going to be forced to remove both parties and their entire infrastructure to actually being about democracy again in the future that’s the reality.

As I have been saying both publicly in speaking engagements as well as in written pieces. Neoliberalism was always a threat as real as fascism.

Okay I have now communed with the spirits, so to speak 😉, and here is my assessment of JJ McCarthy so far:

He came to the Vikes par baked and just needs a lot of time. He’s got all the tools and he’s got the leadership skills, but now he needs to grow a fucking brain. Will he?
