Yes there's a lot of denial, but I've seen it: when it snaps, it snaps hard.

"Powerful men covered up child sex abuse" isn't outlandish when you've seen that happen in church, boy scouts, school athletics, and every other social pillar of your conservative middle-class life in the past few decades.

pre-writing a devastating obituary for your enemy is god-tier hating of a kind you don’t often see anymore. renaissance haterism. beautiful stuff.
A Sharon Begley byline, almost 5 years after her death.

Upon hearing the news James Watson had died, a STAT reporter said in our Slack, "I wish I could read what Sharon would have written."

Incredible news: Sharon in fact did pre-write a Watson obit. And it is masterful and excoriating.

My friend worked for HHS and found a year-long fellowship after being RIF’ed. Of course that doesn’t pay as much as a typical job and her pups need dental surgery. Please consider giving to a formal federal worker who has dedicated her career to the public good 💛
Hi my wonderful #uglydogs & friends. I mentioned a few weeks ago that Bella and Moneypenny both need surgery. I lost my jobs in the DOGE cuts back in April and am currently unable to afford the care they need. Any help would be SO appreciated. I hate seeing my babies in pain. gofund.me/bfe99ebd2

Many many greats I agree with in the quotes but I’ll add two of my favorite that I didn’t see: Neko Case and Jens Lekman
I also need to know: I am fairly middle-of-the-road on Taylor Swift but someone I know called her the Greatest Living Lyricist. She is not.

Who is yours? Either the greatest or your favorite?

This is why I love to bring my white Appalachian dad to Padres games. The crowd is so much more diverse than the typical Tennessee or Kentucky college ballgame and the programming staff does such a good job of celebrating it. He just looks around and loves being part of it.

Amazingly enough I am on this list *multiple times* because of scholarly articles I coauthored. You should really check and see if you’re on it too.
Just a reminder to check for your name in this list of books that OpenAI trained from. If your name is there, they probably owe you several thousand dollars.

OpenAI cried that if everyone eligible author files, the company will go bankrupt, so I'm alerting every author I have ever spoken to.

One of the most interesting things about Abundance discourse to me is you almost never see an actual environmental scientist, who famously must also live in a home and use transportation, weighing in or invited to the discussion.
