If you're in need of some reassurance today:

"...There are no new pains. We have felt them all already. We have hidden that fact in the same place where we have hidden our power. They surface in our dreams, and it is our dreams that point the way to freedom."

Trumpworld is fully circling the wagons with this announcement about supporting the Epstein files vote.

Pretty much every major staffer and adviser has tweeted about it in the past 20-30 mins

Paris very effectively closes school streets to cars with this one simple trick, a swinging gate. These can be closed at all hours or just when school is in session. Fire trucks swing them open for easy access, as needed.

Two weeks into a new program that gives New Mexico children free childcare, officials are opening up about the surge that happened day one & how it’s been moving forward. In just a short time, the state said thousands of children are now enrolled in free childcare, & daycares are lining up to join.

I think what critics of abolitionists often fail to realize is most abolitionists will readily admit that it's an ideological goal that likely cannot ever be fully achieved in the real world, but the closer we can get the better.

Some people may willfully choose banishment rather than therapy 🤷‍♂️

people say that abolitionists don’t want to talk specifics but i really really do
yes, exactly. For instance when you look at statistics about violence, DV stands out as one of the most dangerous, and potentially fatal harms. The carceral system does nothing to address this and often delegates cops to mitigate the situation (40% admit themselves to being domestic abusers).

we are alive together in this slice of time
I walk past a huge cedar tree on campus several times a day & the smell of it is incomparable. On hot dry days it has a toasty redolence; in the rain it smells lush & alive. Wherever my head is, It seizes my attention like a whisper: “pssssst, Jen, we are alive together in this slice of time”

Alice Wong was one of the few who actually left the world better than when she entered it. A lot of the obituaries are leaving out her work on Covid, her advocacy around masking, and her work on eSims for Gaza. I tried to capture some of that in a post on IG.

Posting ghost jobs should be illegal. If companies do this to harvest consumer data or create the appearance that they are “always hiring” to appease investors, how is this just not fraud? Is there a meaningful legislative remedy for this?

That was the entire point of #metoo. That one woman wasn't even enough. That a man had to derail the careers of dozens before people started saying "oh yeah maybe we shouldn't let him ruin the careers of so many people."

This idea that #metoo was a temporary piece of insanity that happened because America was too woke...

Fuck you. It was a temporary moment in time when people decided, for the first time, that 20 women were finally equal to one man.

#Metoo was exhausting for the people who did it, who were then expected to treat it like a service they did for free to help the very people who had been pretending like it happened.

If you talked to a reporter from a reputable organization, you would have to provide forms of corroborating evidence--friends you told, contemporaneous emails and text.

I know people who talked to reporters whose stories never got told because they were so ashamed they'd never put it in email.

People put their careers on the line to try to get enough people out there that their combined voices would maybe, eventually weigh as much as the voice of one man who had been ruining careers for decades.

The deliberate misreading of the actual campaign Kamala Harris ran in 2024 means we don't actually learn the real lessons we need from that disaster of an election.

this escaped my usual bubble for better or worse
abolitionists want to create a world where personal violence is unthinkable because the underlying reasons why we hurt each other have been addressed to thoroughly that harm never feels like than option. i hope we succeed.
I‘m tired of being nice about this; “abolitionism” has had years to develop a non-idiot policy program and the best they’ve come up with is ”murder without even the pretense of juridical process.” And I am not nut-picking; this is all over abolitionist writing.
