It's been awhile since my last avocado-related post, but for anyone in the project area (hardiness zone 8b+ Cascadia), I've got a bunch of seedlings that are overdue for distribution and planting. Slide into the DMs if you wanna join the project!

Lots of police at legacy Emmanuel hospital. They aren’t letting people in unless they need to be seen. They are telling people they are on lockdown due to an “ongoing situation”

Abolish and prosecute ICE. They did a murder in broad daylight today. Imagine what they're doing in the closed facilities we're somehow not even allowed to see.

This diagram shows the flower timing for the A- and B-type trees

each individual flower on the trees actually has both anthers and stamens, and follows a two-day open/close cycle in which the flowers themselves alternate functional sex

I have a few species of Rubus available in the nursery currently: R. leucodermis (black-cap raspberry), R. pedatus (strawberry bramble), and R. parviflora (thimbleberry). Let me spotlight a few PNW-native moths that depend on Rubus to rear their young.

This is the tree that has been outside in the ground for the longest of any tree in the project: since January 2021.

If the winter is mild enough to avoid damage to the branch tips, it's possible this could flower for the first time next year.

These articles always depend on a bizarre Schroedinger's Seattle: The city is falling apart due to progressive overreach but we should have re-elected the conservative non-socialist who has been in charge for the last four years.
