Broad use of AI in schools will prevent people from developing and exercising the discretion required to use AI as a potentially helpful tool.

But the only hope of monetizing AI for AI distributors is to push as hard as they can to stop those skills from forming.
I continue to think LLMs are absurdly powerful for learning, and I'm using them more often for it.

The problem is that a lot of people don't have solid metacognitive skills around epistemics and autodidactism.

You've got to have a handle on what you know, how you learn, and if you're learning.

I just gave my 20yo a rundown of the day's news, and he said, "It's all so dumb, it's hard to take seriously and so it's hard to fight. We'd be better at fighting smarter authoritarians!"

"We'd be better at fighting smarter authoritarians" is going to stick with me.

what I want trans kids, queer kids, and gender nonconforming kids to know:

you are loved

you are so much more powerful than the ghouls using your healthcare as a political pawn, and you WILL outlive them (they know this, and it is why they're attacking you)

because democrats are driven by polls. and polling goes against transgender people because americans arent familiar. but it also went against black rights and gay rights but fucking LEADERS did the right thing and fought anyways and now those things are in the majority.

FUCKING.
LEAD.
What I don't understand about this fixation some Dems have is that I thought the platform was Rights for All. Medicare for All. Justice for All. The idea that "All" should mean "All except for the ones that are problematic because it will offend some bigot and cost us a vote" is a very GOP position.

David Brooks, who wrote in the NYT last month, "The Epstein Story? Count Me Out" is... in the latest Epstein photo dump published by @oversightdemocrats.house.gov.

He should absolutely be fired by NYT for this. Major conflict of interest that he didn't disclose.

Reading top 5 things bankrupting Americans are:

1. Housing
2. Cars
3. Healthcare
4. Childcare
5. College

Y'all. Instead of having billionaires we could easily afford all of these things w/policy changes (subsidized housing, public transit, universal healthcare, subsidized childcare, free college)

what an astonishing story. Makes me mourn the country we used to be.
A story I found about Haiti:

In 1999, a group of Haitians were tired of political disorder and dreamed of a better life in the United States. So they built a small, 23-foot boat by hand using pine trees, scrap wood, and used nails. They called the boat "Believe in God."

This AI cycle is as if automakers spent three years telling everyone they'd built the flying, fusion-powered Delorean from "Back to the Future," but only built...a gasoline-powered Delorean.

It's nuts! AI rhetoric is so obviously false.
It's amazing how much of this was just marketing. Marketing with a side of influence ops I suspect. Those pesky EA people played a part in that as well.

Thread worth reading
I've now made it my life's mission to explain to all and sundry that "AI" in 2025 is GENERATIVE AI.

Generative AI uses machine-learning algorithms to put together new content based on patterns learned from their training data.

GenAI is not a search engine. GenAI knows nothing. It makes up stuff.
