I am so baffled by people who think that American cities are crime-laden warzones or whatever. Legitimately can't remember the last time I was in an city and thought "ooh, wouldn't want to be out here after dark."
Thought that about countless rural gas stations, but cities? Nah.

We need to build some real social stigma around being afraid of cities. You don't have to like them or live there, but a politics built this strongly around watching TV and going "ewww" is embarrassing, and people should be embarrassed by it. It's like "fear of werewolves" being your top issue.

if we survive this, I hope it'll be a lesson to everyone that relying on cis allies to grant us probationary civil rights was a huge fucking mistake. in times of relative safety we should be organizing to liberate ourselves because our lives are nothing to them but a stepping stone for their careers
