i don’t know why yiddish needs a word just to describe people who are tall yet stupid but you’re not gonna hear me complaining about it

sometimes i wonder if i am a little too hair-trigger on escalating bureaucratic issues. like for example today i was prepared to request a DOJ investigation into medicaid waste & abuse bc a medical provider told me i had a 1 hr electrolysis appt then gave me a 45min one

Idk how many Portlanders are on bsky but if you live in #PDX & rely on/care about public transit, please go do this TriMet survey on their proposed service cuts.

These cuts will be devastating to low-income & disabled folks all over the city, so please be loud about how much these will suck
Service Change Proposal Survey
We want to hear what you think of our service change proposals for August and November 2026.

this sucks and is a direct consequence of the barely believable incompetence of Oregon’s governing Democrat supermajority trifecta

This lays at the feet of the state legislature. This is their fault for not doing the job we elected them to do.

this makes my blood fucking boil. sweeps kill. talk to your neighbors living outside about it and how you can support them. in my experience, having a “respectable” person present & challenging rapid response can make it more likely for folks to keep their belongings

ELK

It's been over five years since the Thompson Elk statue was removed from its spot in downtown Portland after someone sprayed it with graffiti and built fires in the fountain.

The statue might finally make its return in the spring.
Thompson Elk statue could be standing in downtown Portland again by spring
Portland authorities want to return the Thompson Elk statue to its rightful place downtown after it was damaged in 2020. But the process involves an alphabet soup of jurisdictions and is taking a long time.

i looked it up and based on the most recent 990s (2023), OPB’s CEO made at least $550k (and potentially another $50k of non-reportable compensation). ghastly
Right now, Oregonians should listen very hard to @opbkmhdcreators.bsky.social union. The voices you hear on the radio at OPB are generally poorly-compensated, some working two jobs, and the wage gap between the CEO and the actual journalists is a gap of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
