for the love of god, a war with Iran is not a "distraction." we're talking about horrific mass death at best and a global conflict at worst. it will also be incredibly unpopular, especially if there are significant US casualties,as seems likely if trump gets the kind of war he seems to want.

Also, anyone who’s shocked that a word for “bad version of the real thing” is closely connected to a word historically used for trans people is in for an absolute TREAT when they learn about baedel discourse.
I’m really amused that someone got very offended at how I was wrong for saying transvestite and travesty are related.
But, like… they are. Both are just a combination of the roots trans (across) and vestire (clothes), but “travesty” lost its “s” and “r” when it passed through French.
