When the temperatures drop and snow begins to fall, CTA’s employees are among the true superheroes of the Chicago region. Many of the hardworking men and women of our great agency have worked overnight and throughout the day to ensure that our riders have had smooth rides.

i think the argument the cavers should’ve made/should make is “i couldn’t let people starve - we made a run thinking they would fold on aca, but trump really is that psychotic”

that’s an argument i think people could respect, but the won’t even make it
like this is basically it, the melts melted under pressure

i can’t quite explain it but “standing up as opposition doesn’t work” doesn’t seem like good optics for an opposition party to have
SENATOR ANGUS KING: "Standing up to Donald Trump didn't work. It actually gave him more power."

It’s like getting mad at a bear for knocking over your trash and scattering it around the yard. I expect the bear to do it but I am disappointed if my neighbor does the same thing
There was a discussion on here about people that only get mad at Dems, and while I certainly think that’s not the way to live, there’s really so much you can say about the GOP. Like what am I supposed to do, say how disappointed I am Tommy Tuberville voted yes on this funding bill?

what’s remarkable about this is that there are zero winners at all, one of the biggest lose-lose deals I can remember

the Dem cavers will catch incandescent shit for it

the rest of the Dems will catch collateral fury

the big R win is… jacking everyone’s health care costs ahead of midterms

I would respect House Democrats a lot more if they started planning primaries against the Senate Surrender Caucus tbh. like Joe Neguse would wax Hickenlooper 60-40
Senate Brain, it's too powerful (and House Dems hate it)

i really hope this new whisper surge is mostly noise because a bad deal is, in fact, worse than continuing the shutdown
From what I have seen so far this does not seem like a good deal:

the fuckin chutzpah on this guy to compare his experience being elected mayor of notre dame’s company town to a guy who drove nearly record turnout to put the nail in the coffin of a political dynasty and become mayor of the largest city in the united states. get the fuck fully out of here
What nauseates about Mayor Pete is that he’s an Atlantic Monthly-reading retiree’s idea of what a young (ok, 43-yr-old) person should be like. Thank god for competitive primaries

You cannot separate the current nightmare we now inhabit from the collapse/crisis in how rich, powerful middle-aged men perceive masculinity, especially their own insecurities.
I’m sorry, but a goofy looking guy who grew up a privileged son of a pediatrician and has a phd in social theory from the university of Goethe and started in tech by investing an inheritance left to him by his grandfather talking about being a “dude” is very, very funny to me.

Its actually worse, in the case of small airports its basically a subsidy to the private jet set
So it turns out... the US air travel system was incredibly, deeply dependent on federal funding to just run day-to-day all this time, to the benefit of private airline shareholders, when everyone thinks that state-run trains are leeching off the government. Weird!
