Our constitution is fine (if you have a majority for it in parliament you can do it as an excellent principle), the issue is our insane way of handing out a majority

It’s been clear for a while the conservatives party deserves to die, and I’m afraid any not evil centre right person just has to vote for the Lib Dems (which aren’t a centre right party) and hope they deliver electoral reform which will allow for the existence of a not evil centre right party

So now that it’s confirmed that none of the messages on the bullets were pro-trans, maybe we should have a national conversation about how multiple newspapers repeated a lie about us on their front pages hours after doubts had already been cast over it?

It’s almost like being willing to sell ‘hypnotising boobs into being larger’ as a service, and who left the Lib Dems in the stop because you didn’t get selected for Richmond park was indicative of a penalty fundamentally not suited to leading a political party

This does say a lot about how much time our politicians are spending on Twitter, and I don’t think it’s a great sign of where Britain’s elite is.

Starmer did not tweet about the murder of Melissa Hortman (an elected official) and her husband.
I don't think it is callous of me to observe that it is weird to see the PM of the UK, the leader of the Opposition of the UK, and the ex UK PM all putting out solemn and devastated tweets about the death of a podcaster who is only a big name if you're constantly on Twitter

Not a single elected dem is even going to come remotely close to what Lee and a whole bunch of elected GOP officials did. They’re all going to express sympathy and condemn political violence and we’re of course going to get a billion different “both sides” articles in the coming weeks
Oh, is Mike Lee moralizing about his hatred of political violence now?

Thank God we have an electoral system that blocks radical parties from reaching parliament. I'd be really worried if we had one that might, say, give them a landslide majority on a third of the vote.
UK (GB), BMG Research poll:

REFORM~NI: 35% (+3)
LAB-S&D: 20% (-3)
CON~ECR: 17% (-1)
LDEM-RE: 13%
GREENS-G/EFA: 7% (-1)
SNP-G/EFA: 2%
PC-G/EFA: 1%

+/- vs. 29-31 July 2025

If an Asylum seeker has come from Afghanistan they are a legitimate refugee and what we should be doing is processing them and settling them faster. It’s a fundamental human right to not have to live under the Taliban.
To be the candidate for British Prime Minister of both Donald Trump *and* the Taliban is not a pitch that has ever been tried before

Oslo is actually great, and I normally hate airports because they tend to make feel anxious
Actually, you know what? Let’s stop complaining for a second. QT this with a GOOD airport. Defend that title as much or as little as you like. But let’s hear about airports that don’t suck.

From the outset of the war, even allies of Ukraine have failed to grasp rhe importance of winning, and to strategise and support accordingly.

We will bear the consequences of that for a long time.
If Putin is rewarded for illegally invading Ukraine, for occupying parts of Ukraine, for committing genocide, for torture, rape, summary executions, for false imprisonment, for abducting children, for bombing schools and hospitals, murdering journalists, starving ppl… then anyone can do anything.
