Hiding from Elon and Zuck, and yes, you can block me or anyone else you disagree with and just chill out rather than make this place as miserable as the other sites. The option to simply say nothing is often best.

We all know people who tried the damndest to get sober, who managed for a while, who relapsed, even though the cost was unimaginable. We can't judge, and we can't condemn. We can only express the deepest sympathy for those who struggle, and for those who fail, and for all those who pay the price.

I've had a secret theory for a while that I guess I'll just throw out there:

The right is inevitably going to turn on AI, not because LLMs hallucinate or get things wrong, but because they mostly *get things right*, and reality, as a great man once said, has a liberal bias.
Uh oh. He’s just going to have to shut this thing off.

Once again it is Father’s Day, which means it’s time to share the most Dad* thing you did in the last year. As is custom, I will go first:

Watching YouTube videos for small repair jobs around the house has turned into watching YouTube videos for large repair jobs I cannot and should not attempt.

the longer you spend on the internet the more true this rings

trolls are not original and they're not interesting and eventually you have seen them all

everyone is of course welcome to do their own thing but as someone who's tried it all, 'don't engage and block' is easily the best approach
Respectfully, and speaking as someone who for years did one good whack before blocking, no you don't. That's mindspace they've taken from you, and attention you've given to them, and both of those are seen from others, none of whom benefit. Consign the trolls to the cornfield the second they appear.
Sometimes you just get bored, though, and you gotta play with the troll for 5 seconds…

(It’s one of those “it’s funny because it’s true” observations)

[As per the above, I will usually give it one good faith reply. Then it’s capping at the knees time.]

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.
NEWS:

Democratic mega-donors are debating plans to spend tens of millions of dollars on a range of influencer plans to "find the liberal Rogan."

We've got pitch decks, investor meetings, and internal docs.

One Democrat has a spreadsheet of 26 different proposals.

people tend to think that the average voter is like them, give or take a few opinions, in how they engage with politics

think of “that fucking guy” - you know the one - in your life

that’s your swing voter
once again reminding people that "swing voters" are mostly not centrists they are "get mad at the president because i disapprove of the supermarket rearranging the aisles again" voters
new york times voter interviews are a powerful argument that not everybody should be allowed to vote

When Hitler started ranting about the Jews from streetcorners in the 1920s, he was part of a long history of European anti-Semitism.

But where in the world did this massive anti-trans campaign come from? I feel like it was invented out of whole cloth in the last five years.
I need y'all to sit with this headline and understand what is being done to our community. They're trying to criminalize our very existence.

This is a campaign of eradication.

that ad from the anti-LGBT Jesus folks featuring Johnny Cash ran again and I'm just now getting back to whomever it was asking how the Cash family approved that and the answer is that they did not have any say in it, because Rick Rubin owned the masters & he sold them to Warner Bros.

The reality is that Salesmanship is the differentiation between the two parties.

The Dems couldn't sell dollar bills for 50c

Trump has found his audience and can sell them dollar bills for $5

When everything is a story the algorithm flashes at you as you scroll, you better be selling fast
It is truly about who tells a better story — or really a story people want to hear and makes them see what they believe rather than believe what they see.
