"Repeatedly accuse your opponents of doing something they are not doing, so that when you take power and actually do it, the worst you'll face is 'both sides do it' handwringing."

It's a low, shitty, dishonest strategy, but it works, again and again and again.
I seem to recall MAGA complaining a lot about weaponizing government institutions against political opponents. I guess they’re over that now.

I know I'm not the first person or even the millionth person to point this out; it's not even the first time *I* have said it, but this is what actual First Amendment violations look like and the fact that none of the supposed free speech warriors are saying anything about it tells us everything.
Duke appears to have lost NIH grants because they used the prefix "trans" in reference to disease transmission, transgenic genetic material, translational studies, or signal transduction www.dukechronicle.com/article/2025...

Useful technology isn't something people are forced to use. This was one of the really interesting things I heard maybe a year ago from so many pundits. Things like "I'm trying to think of ways to use this so I become good at it." That's not how productivity tools are supposed to work.
this technology that i cant even get my own employees to use without literally threatening them is definitely going to be profitable one day

I feel like I'm losing my mind. Here is the transcript of what Zohran Mamdani actually said about the phrase "globalize the intifada." This is his "refusal to disavow it." This is what has people terrified. Just fucking read it.

Why I can't sleep: The Nuremberg Laws of 1935 stripped Jews of German citizenship. If one parent was a Jew, they & their children were no longer German citizens, even if the other parent was German. Today SCOTUS basically said they're ok with that rule here! For at least a generation, RIP America.

unsurprisingly, im seeing an uptick in antisemitic rhetoric on the left, a totally predictable reaction to the hideous cowardice of this tactic
Ok that’s it this is a concerted group effort there is no denying it. The Dem establishment got together in a back room and said “how are we gonna stop this man from making change in the party he is too dangerously progressive and popular.”

And then they all agreed “use the Jews.”
Democratic congressman Eric Swalwell says of Zohran Mamdani: "I don't associate myself with what he has said about the Jewish people."

Has the Wall Street Journal called disappearing people and building camps in swamps radical? Turning back the clock on medical research? Cutting off foreign aid, killing children? Turning the Oval Office into a bribe depository? Telling polluters to have at it? Any of that deemed radical?

The trans healthcare ban is BACK in the bill (after the parlimentarian removed it, they put it back). Dems need to do a call and vote to remove it again.
PLEASE CALL YOUR SENATORS AND TELL THEM TO VOTE AND KILL IT.
*bangs pots and pans* CALL YOUR SENATORS. THIS IS NOT A DRILL.
You want to protect gender affirming care? NOW'S THE TIME.
Trans peoples' health and lives are at stake, including my partner's. CALL YOUR SENATORS.
H/T @sharonk.bsky.social: Republicans decided to keep the Medicaid and CHIP ban on gender-affirming care for transgender people in the bill as well as the legal characterization of "male" and "female."

Senator Lee, under pressure from colleagues and the public (that’s all of you!) has officially removed his land sale provision from the big abomination of a bill.

law professors have been unable to understand why people are actually concerned about this case. it’s not about nationwide injunctions per se, it’s about a court that waited until the issue hurt the GOP, and then intervened on behalf of one of the most egregious constitutional violations we’ve seen
Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson called yesterday's decision about nationwide injunctions "an existential threat to the rule of law."

She's mistaken.

As one does when one is simply impartially applying the law in the obvious constitutional way with no underlying agenda
It’s pretty startling that it’s become a feature of the Roberts Court that they save the most outrageous and infuriating usurpations of the Constitution for the last day they are in session and then disappear for months onto the planes and boats of the billionaire friends safe from public scrutiny.

the Cuomo faction are not “liberals” but “centrists”.

the Lander faction are “liberals”

the Mamdani faction are “leftists”

Well the “NOAA Climate” and “NASA Climate” social media feeds - a key tool to communicate the massive challenge of climate change to the world - are now gone.
