John Roberts is brave enough to ask the question: what if we are all umpires calling balls and strikes, but also we are all Angel Hernandez ?
I don’t think we fully appreciate how much funnier Roberts’s “balls and strikes” metaphor is now that Major League Baseball is saying “human umps are terrible arbiters, we need more robots”

Likewise the 9/11 hijackers were probably not the best pilots, but they were good enough to do a lot of damage
The thing about crashing a tank through a museum of antiquities is that you don't have to be a particularly skilled driver to do a lot of damage.
It's difficult at times to hold both "this admin is doing lasting and serious damage to our institutions and the globe" and "this admin is full of the most bafflingly incompetent idiots you've ever seen who fall over themselves like a Vaudeville act constantly."

The duality of man is incredible.

Remembering how Ted Cruz let Trump call his wife ugly and suggested his dad had a part in the JFK assassination
I know we've talked a lot about the total capitulation of the American elite in government and civil society and how little respect they seem to have for the power they and their institutions wield but it's genuinely baffling how many of them also have no respect for their families
I kind of can’t believe this Bari Weiss quote is even real, and yet www.nytimes.com/2025/10/06/b...

Ah, so Ohio has a larger role in Trump first becoming president than was originally reported. /s
if literally everything else is the same except that the upper peninsula of michigan was part of wisconsin and the florida panhandle was part of alabama, clinton wins decisively and Trump becomes a forgotten joke. It makes you think! bsky.app/profile/lisa...
I have to remind people multiple times a year that Clinton got three million more votes than Trump and the Electoral College is the reason she wasn't president.

These issues are fundamentally downstream of a housing supply shortage. We need more homes and this means easing the government imposed cap on housing in residential neighborhoods
-End taxpayer subsidies for giant corporate mergers that create housing monopolies.
-Stop foreign investors from buying up American neighborhoods.
-Explore reasonable limits on how many homes Wall Street can control in any one community.

Lawmakers have a legal right to unannounced visits to ICE detention facilities, you and I do not. The administration is trying to keep lawmakers out. They can force this issue. This is only one example of what people are talking about when we ask they do something!

An enterprising democratic senator or rep could test the limits of article 1 section 6 here if they wanted to make a name for themselves
"They are also worried about a potential Tiananmen Square moment where you have a protester standing in front of a tank. That is not what America is supposed to look like."
U.S. Officials Fear ‘Tiananmen Square Moment’ at Trump’s Military Parade
U.S. officials are reportedly worried about “a potential Tiananmen Square moment” at Trump’s military parade on Saturday.

Gavin will do anything but build more housing
Governor Gavin Newsom plans to escalate California’s push to eradicate homeless encampments on Monday, calling on hundreds of cities, towns and counties to effectively ban tent camps and clear existing ones. nyti.ms/3GP53S6

What’s missing from the article is the public accusation by AOC here on Bluesky that Schumer at the last minute backed out of an “agreed upon plan”.

If you’re voting for cloture it’s a good as voting for the Republican CR
Update: I will be voting NO on the CR.

Virginians deserve more than letting Elon & Trump run wild through our government, slashing jobs and cutting services.

Let’s pass a 30-day extension and get an actual deal done.

If you want an opportunity for moral and strategic clarity rip Kennedy, Hegseth, and Gabbard apart in confirmation hearings. Ask Kennedy if he knows the names of the Samoan kids he killed with measles; read the police report of the rape Hegseth committed; show pictures of Gabbard meeting with Assad.
The tax fight next year is going to be an absolute barn burner and it gives our side a perfect opportunity for moral and strategic clarity. They want to raise the price of stuff you buy and use your money to give more to corporations. Let’s keep it simple and let’s fight, after the holidays.

this is about 24 hours out of date now but it’s good work and if you are under the impression that House Dems are staying silent about the Mace/Johnson bathroom situation, perhaps because people keep lying to you about it, you should take a look.
This is a list of statements by House Democrats defending Sarah McBride.

It does not include statements of support that make no mention of the transphobic attacks against her, or statements about transphobia that are not directly relevant. It also does not include retweets/reposts.
