I'm a SNAP recipient... for the last month I was tightening my belt, doing my best to eat cheaper and eating less so I'd have a little left over to help get me through when payments were cut. It was all for nothing. Fuck the dems who supported this.
I received this email about Democrats caving to end the shutdown from one of the SNAP recipients I spoke to:

This case in a nutshell

The Supreme Court did grant review of one case today, Watson v. Republican National Committee, and it's a big one over state laws allowing the counting of ballots cast by Election Day but received after Election Day.

i think this is key. taking the deal would amount to taking the blame. it would turn a clear political victory into an unambiguous defeat.
If the Dems blink after all of this, for a deal that all but ensures no ACA subsidies in 2026 anyway, then what was the purpose of letting the shutdown go for 40 days in the first place?

The average SNAP benefit per month is $177 a person.
The average ACA benefit per month is up to $550 a person.
People want us to hold the line for a reason. This is not a matter of appealing to a base. It’s about people’s lives.
And working people want leaders whose word means something to them.

My family has been without half our income for 40 days. It has been.. very hard.
We are willing to feel that pain so people can have health care next year, or to undo these illegal recissions.
We are not willing to have been put through this for NOTHING.

Any Democrat voting for this should be primaried as quickly as possible because they're stupid, aren't capable of recognizing they're winning, are incapable of representing their constituents, and are cowards not up to this era's challenges.
Senate Democrats asked for a year of ACA subsidies and were told to fuck off.
So they came back and asked for a pinky promise to hold a vote on ACA subsidies that they will assuredly lose?
Seriously?

The mandate of birth gender on passport of someone who presents differently is a hostile act, as Jackson's dissent makes clear. Everyone knows the reason for Trump's EO was hostility to trans people. It's as clear as "hippie" in Moreno. Which is why the Court erases Moreno from its new law. end/

Okay, a thread. (thanks to @mjsdc.bsky.social for posting on this case). The Court is lying through its teeth (precedent) - subtly changing its quote extractions to rewrite animus law and produce essential a new pro-animus "equal protection" doctrine. Here's how...1/
The requirement that challengers must show that a gov’t action “lacks any purpose other than a bare desire to harm a politically unpopular group” basically would mean all animus discrimination is constitutional. There is always some other “purpose.” This standard would overrule Romer and Cleburne.
NEW: On the shadow docket, the Supreme Court lets Trump resume misgendering trans Americans on their passports, claiming "the government is merely attesting to a historical fact without subjecting anyone to differential treatment." All three liberals dissent. www.documentcloud.org/documents/26...

Reminder: It benefits nobody in a way to list sex assigned at birth on passports, there is no requirement to include it, this is just about punishing trans etc. Americans.
BREAKING: The Supreme Court will allow the Trump administration to enforce its anti-trans and anti-nonbinary passport policy during litigation.

What this order makes clear is that plaintiffs can collect a mountain of animus, the district court can write extensively about the record, and the Supreme Court will just go “nuh uh.”

This is the "felony footlong" patch that the defense displayed in closing arguments in the sandwich guy trial, but it was never introduced in evidence, so jurors were told to disregard.
