Also: the rushed/low-budget/low-morals art director may think "yes, but the vibe of the output is all that matters". No. When people look at art, they are 'joining in' with the feelings of the artist, & the process. It's a tiny moment of emotional mirroring; a quick moment of 'being' the artist 1/2
My illustrator's take is that there's something especially c__ty about using AI to do *woodcut* imitations in a book about *nature*. Woodcuts work in nature books because the art style is slow, meditative, and involves contact with nature (cutting wood). The art style is a metaphor for the subject
