Surrounded by comics they never have time enough to read. Always tired. Writing nonsense about Robotech on the internet since the late '90s.

There are so many people living lives of quiet dignity despite horrific medical news or poverty or tragedy where every day they still wake up and try to be good people in the world even as the world pushes against them and it makes me even angrier at the absolute shitheads that rule over things

From the description (especially the size) it sounds like Chronicles is what they're calling Origins now since it'll be doing figures of versions of these characters that aren't twenty-some to forty-some years old. Basically a rebrand to indicate that it's no longer just focused on Old Stuff.
From upcoming figure descriptions it looks like January Mattel will be launching 2 new Masters of the Universe lines for the new movie.

Chronicles is collector focused scaling at 5.5-inches & 30 POA. First Ones appears to be a smaller scale line which is aimed at kids.

“What if rich kids take advantage of free school lunches?” is like asking “What if rich executives take advantage of public transportation?”

What if they do?

They probably won’t. But what if they do?

Well, nothing.

The way Parker laid this timeline out—it’s so clear what has been ramping up, even if some of these appeared to be isolated events at the time.

Very similar to the trans-kids panic, where the prestige media narrative is that it's far too easy but you talk to any trans person, expert or parent and it's obvious that it's way too hard.
Once again, no one making these claims seems to understand the enormous hurdles in the way of getting a kid the help they need - in this case - I dare anyone suggesting this to go through an IEP process.

Any given trans person (particularly one in any role of power or prestige) is at risk of being forcibly cast as the villain in an algorithmic right-wing fairy tale by some grifter who's greatest dream in life is to be a pitchman for crypto schemes and off-brand fertility supplements
every trans person i see post about the OU suspension knows that the suspended target is trans & a grad student, & has an innate awareness that this is about purging trans employees. every cis person i see thinks the target is a rando professor & that this is about giving conservatives good grades

a lot of people debating the merits of that dogshit essay meanwhile the girl’s mom is retweeting demands to ban all trans people from teaching at any level. it’s forest for the trees shit

Musk has been saying this for a while & if I were as lucky as Musk has been, while still not understanding many of the basics regarding how society works, I'd probably think I was living in a simulation too. But a nice way for him to admit he doesn't actually think he deserves what he has
Flawless logic, sir! Makes perfect sense that because video games are improving, we must live in a simulation!

When a cancelled performer reënters the culture, we expect them to offer us a great work, channelling their newfound clarity into the finest art they’ve ever made. With his new comedy show and début novel, has Louis C.K. met the bar?

Louis C.K.’s Next Chapter
In a new standup special, and a début novel, the comedian navigates murky, post-#MeToo terrain: not quite exiled, not quite welcomed back.

The Digi Charat English language ad @miketoole.com just played reminded me that back at AX '01 my sister went in for the open audition to be the English voice of Dejiko -- she was one of the FINALISTS per this old ANN article, which I completely forgot.

Karen Hsin selected from over 30 semi-finalists and 5 finalists to play the voice of Dejiko, the catgirl mascot of Gamers!

I worked for that company for 6 years, ending with their (first) bankruptcy, and if his article is to be believed to-the-letter I'd say Jon's experience was only a LITTLE more cartoonishly absurd than mine. (I still have a collection of those magnetic name badges -- yay rebranding! -- on my fridge.)

Finished Super Robot Wars Y last night. Am I remembering right that SRW 30 ALSO ended with most of the cast going "yeah, we'll stick around for a bit" so as to keep post-game missions making in-universe sense?

Also would've been nice for the new DLC characters to have dialog w/ the last boss.

Also worth looking at even w/out the toy plane to fly around (and also it works like a light gun so it wouldn't work with your screen anyway) because all the "training footage" was, if I remember right, animated by AIC in Japan and looks PHENOMENAL. Love those variants of all the Bio-Dread designs.

One of my absolute favorite things ever.
Anyway y'all should go watch what is arguably the first North American tokusatsu in the tradition of Metal Heroes or Super Sentai, 6 years before MMPR, with entirely original footage and story.

Out and about and bought a new Pizza Thrower at Ollie's (one of the few Turtles vehicles I had as a kid and I'm pretty sure my original is long gone/broken somewhere) and also the barista at Starbucks made multiple wrong guesses how to spell my name in one go. Not the *worst* I've seen, though.
