I hope JCO writes his obituary. Maybe she’s already pre-written it who knows.

Seattle's Mamdani is winning by an absurdly small margin over our incumbent mayor, who once pulled a gun on a pregnant woman in a parking lot.

The historian in me feels the need to note that contests between cities and their rural hinterland are not new things and they do not generally go great for the rural folks.
California alone produces a third of all the food America eats. So this is a lie.

But let’s break down the food produced by the red states:

Guess what percent is harvested by people from Latin America?

I don’t know why people keep trying to adapt Alan Moore stuff when what makes his comics great is that they use forms and techniques unique to comics - it’s like saying you know what this opera should be a film strip

I'm trying to imagine what AQI jihadist al-Sharaa would say if you told him while detained in Camp Bucca that "Someday, you will meet the host of the #1 rated American gameshow, The Apprentice, in the Oval Office."

It’s good to care about people and to try to do what you can to prevent or mitigate their suffering.

Literally what is there that is more meaningful than trying to make things better for more people?

Portland, any ideas on how I can help out locally? I’ve got a volunteer application in at the food bank, what else can I do to help?

the thing that upsets me about this the most is that Dems had all the momentum, republicans were reeling, and we were getting intra-GOP fighting over the filibuster, all while voters were blaming republicans for their incompetence

this destroys all of this. just a total gut punch

My wife found notes I made when attempting to write a love note to my college girlfriend today, and holy shit I don’t think people remember how corny 21/22 year olds are. I’m dying of embarrassment

idk which possibility is more damning for Schumer

either

A) he helped orchestrate the fold

OR

B) he genuinely opposed the fold but was so incompetent that he was unable to stop the splinter group from folding

I truly worry about both healthcare and the anger of the base. I remember the tea party won, but I also remember the winnable seats it lost. Platner is bad enough with the nazi tattoo. Who the hell is Nevada gonna nominate? That said, wtf were they thinking tonight

poor children literally went without food. people lost jobs and went into debt and got evicted and sold their cars they need to get to work. people who otherwise would have lived longer will die younger because of the stress of this. people did things for money they can't undo

The procedural vote stands at 59–40, and the Senate is waiting for John Cornyn to get to the Capitol from Dulles

With Cornyn MIA & still not voting, votes can still be changed. An effective leader would be burning up phone lines trying to flip one of the Dems who voted yes to kill this deal.

So, what’s Schumer doing right now?
