Yesterday my partner and I counted all the ads along Chicago's Brown Line for "Friend," a company selling an AI chatbot pendant, and tallied how many of those ads were defaced.
Still working on a longer piece on this, but here's the quick and dirty: we counted 104 "Friend" ads total, 42 defaced.

The Court next addresses the credibility of the parties’ evidence and witnesses. After reviewing all the evidence submitted to the Court and listening to the testimony elicited at the preliminary injunction hearing, during depositions, and in other court proceedings, the Court finds Defendants’ evidence simply not credible. Plaintiffs submitted a mountain of evidence, providing the Court with over eighty declarations, numerous videos and articles, and other evidence. Defendants did not rebut anything that Plaintiffs set forth in their declarations or testimony, even with BWC footage.
[FN 6] In another case considering some of the same evidence presented to this Court, another court in this district also found that the perceptions of certain of Defendants’ declarants, such as Hott and Parra, were not reliable. ![The Model X we drove for three weeks had a few issues, including a significant rattle from the rearview mirror/forward camera area, and some of the gaps between the gullwing door panels and the body were uneven. During testing, after the Model X had crouched down into its "Cheetah" stance during a launch-control start, we got an air-suspension error and it refused to crouch on subsequent launches. [HIGHLIGHT BEGINS] But, even worse, the right front wheel on our test car—which arrived with fewer than 500 miles on the odometer—worked itself loose after roughly a week of driving. After stopping to inspect what was causing a cyclical noise and what felt like a wheel-imbalance vibration, we found the lug nuts to be no more than finger tight. Thankfully, they held on a few days earlier during testing when we confirmed the Model X's 149-mph top speed. [HIGHLIGHT ENDS]
Ten years on, while plenty has changed and much has been improved, the Model X is still a few tweaks short of finished.
