This is how "fast fashion" works. This is how it has always worked. There is no such thing as a robot sewing-machine. Only women, and starvation wages. This was true 150 years ago. And it's true now.
The people who make Shein's clothes labor for ten to twelve hours per day (in violation of China's labor laws), some up to seven days a week, and earn as little as 15 to 30 cents per t-shirt.

lotta people don't realize this but those little marbles the hippos are so hungry hungry for are, that's right, pure protein
Additionally, hippos - despite being massive - have almost no fat on them. All of that impressive bulk is muscle.

2% body fat. Compare that to Elephants, which are around 8-10%, or rhinos, which are 10-20%.

The average human is around 20-40%, for reference.

They're *all* muscle.

I was just talking with my girlfriend last week about this and how there's like a concrete event horizon beyond which "money can't buy happiness" becomes true
A friend and I talk a lot about how the beauty of money (small m) is that it allows you to buy your way out of problems. Car broke down? You can afford to fix it.

But it seems with very rich people, the inability for money to "fix" a situation - like mortality - to their liking is THE problem.

You have to dig into a thread behind a blockquote to know what this is about. It's… weird. They didn't get an appeal fast enough on the SNAP thing, so they went directly to the Supreme Court *before* the circuit court had been given even eight hours to respond
LET ME BE PERFECTLY CLEAR: DOJ DID ALL OF THIS TO TRY AND STOP PAYMENTS TO PEOPLE UNDER AN ANTI-HUNGER PROGRAM.
Oh, this is wild.

DOJ went to SCOTUS *before* we got the First Circuit's administrative stay denial. (We know this because DOJ just filed a letter at SCOTUS about the admin stay denial.)

So, DOJ went to SCOTUS b/c the First Circuit did not meet its less-than-seven-hour "deadline" for a ruling.

Just real visible awareness on team Trump's part that the "shadow docket" is the source of their power. Imagine the loop getting cut down further until it's like those stories about FDR proposing legislation and getting it passed same-day. Except instead of Congress it's SCOTUS inventing new powers.
