After everything I am coming to the conclusion the really important discourse is the popular culture one because having good (not necessarily interesting or unique) popular culture takes is the best proxy for good political takes.

I disagree to the extent that people who listen or watch right wing news are currently obsessed with this.
They care about everything they are told to care about. There are millions of them.
Most of America has absolutely 0 idea about any of this

Researching an issue that judges sometimes get wrong. Looking at a decision where a judge is explaining the law citing to statute and still gets the law wrong because he is citing to an old version of the statute and never look to see if the legislature changed it.

I honestly expected the conservative movement to go all 14A wasn't properly ratified and was surprised by the post modern turn of we can reinterpret all words to mean what we want them to mean.
Shouldn't have been surprised based on what happened with the 2A (not talking about Charles).
I regret to inform you there’s a new post telling us we’re rubes who’ve missed the obvious & clear meaning of the Const’n for a century.

This is the type of post you make when your goal is to juice engagement from those who want nothing more than to be told their policy goals are const’l commands.

How was this allowed to be admitted for any purpose?
This year marked the first time the AI avatar of a victim—in this case, a dead man—has ever addressed a court, and it raises many questions about the use of this type of technology in future court proceedings.

The fascists also operate under the theory that the right leader will unify the people around a political view that is despised by huge portions of the population.

Call it Red Lantern theory
This is a hell of a sentence.

An essential development over the past decade-plus is that the ignorant went from feeling chastened when their ignorance was revealed to banding together and deciding that, actually, they were right. They might disagree at times, but they agreed that ignorance itself was an indicator of trust.

The anthrocebtric view of the universe is a childish delusion that is fully egoistic and makes no sense without (certain) religious cosmology
This is true! Basically, I believe that humans are just not that important to the universe, and any belief system that posits a role for us in the cosmic scheme of things greater than the role for mosquitoes ascribes us an importance we don't deserve.

Is there something sort of doctrine about the supreme court not issuing opinions on hypothetical issues.

This hypothetical is also very stupid.
The governor or mayor can also deploy forces to quell a mob attacking the court
Kavanaugh concurs, but complains that the majority goes too far in restricting Trump’s ability to federalize the National Guard in the future. I wonder if he tried to persuade Roberts and Barrett to sign onto his narrower approach, but failed. www.supremecourt.gov/opinions/25p...

I feel like my philosophy of the mind professor would either be incredibly proud or incredibly disappointed that 20 years later this is how I answer this question.

Not quite sure which way but I guess disappointed this is my answer proud I have thought about it at all.
The brain is just a goo ball with little electrical discharges trying to figure why its getting shocked and why does it feel differently where its getting shocked.

I think this is the fundamental problem of the internet. We all like to play a little crazy once in a while and thats fine. The internet makes it possible to form large communities around the things we like to play a little crazy about... and we immerse ourselves in it and reinforce each other's
You can only immerse yourself into insanity and pretend to be insane for so long before ... it all becomes true
