There is no way you can guess how the thread that ends in this instant classic begins.
The damned in hell are not more powerful for the fact that the fires do not consume them; it is part and parcel of their torment.

I was laid off from Teen Vogue today along with multiple other staffers, and today is my last day.

certainly more to come from me when the dust has settled more, but to my knowledge, after today, there will be no politics staffers at Teen Vogue.

I think one of the saddest things about being a millennial is remembering a time when technology was advancing in a way that made life better and easier and more exciting instead of actively, intentionally worse

My big question for this is the extent to which it’s demand vs supply driven. My hunch is that people’s preference for keeping up with their friends is undiminished, but we’ve seen a boom-bust cycle in people’s desire to see the more easily-monetised churn of influencer content and now pure slop

One of the most annoying things about AI hype is that it makes software companies re-label existing features AI, and then people get mad at you for using those features because they've confused them for generative AI.

Tell the non-programmer: 50 year old code will have seen every weird edge case at some point, everything someone forgot could happen, and someone will have tried to fix it.

It ends up becoming *mostly* these fixes, as weird edge cases and bad assumptions are encountered and fixed.

Never forget that when Seoul, Korea removed the Cheonggyecheon expressway in 2003 and replaced it with a restored stream, 1000 acre park and improved public transit, not only did it transform the city’s public life and economic success, but the car traffic got better.

The traffic got BETTER.

In 1994 the Pet Shop Boys were invited to perform 'Go West' at the Brit Awards.

They agreed and brought with them 3 separate choirs of miners. Some of those miners had marched with the gay and lesbian members of LGSM in the 1980s. It is one of the great, near-lost music moments
