Remember, when someone says they blame “porn” for something, what they mean by that is they blame the WOMEN doing the porn. It’s somehow women’s FAULT that men are behave badly.
Scott Galloway is a raging misogynist and gender essentialist, he’s Jordan Peterson without the benzo addiction
The link between sexual repression and militarism is becoming clearer by the day.

Galloway blames OnlyFans for loneliness, depression, small business closures, extremism, tyranny and *checks notes* impending societal extinction.

His solution? Mandatory national service.
Scott Galloway: OnlyFans is the billion-dollar symptom of a loneliness pandemic
The most unstable, violent societies have one thing in common: lonely young men. We are producing millions of them, writes Scott Galloway

The kids are alright.

Also, I recall variations of this going around regarding books vs TV. Stuff like "A book is like a movie that doesn't need electricity to work!"

The less obstacles you put and the more you make people feel like they own a thing, the more they'll want it.
Our modern subscription hellhole is aggressively anti-ownership and the kids know it

It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

If folks haven't read it, I recommend @annaleen.bsky.social's Stories are Weapons, which is unfortunately more and more relevant during this administration. When I started it, I thought, "yeah yeah, I know this." But each chapter was 🤯; well researched analysis of these tactics, recent & historical.

except instead of eventually acclimating to it it just feels worse and worse the more you play

Gonna go even further: don't refer to it as "consuming media" when doing this. You aren't a consumer - it's not a product. You read books. You look at art. You watch movies and/or videos. Be careful about word choice.

Reject "consume" and REJECT "CONTENT."
IT IS ART.
YOU ARE ENGAGING WITH ART.
I'm being so real right now, learn how to engage in media as art and not a reflection of your own real life morals. consume things that make you uncomfortable and understand why it makes you uncomfortable. Don't just base yours and others morals standings on the media you consume.

I legitimately didn't know they were competing with Steam and it's crazy to me that they burnt so much money on what sounds like something with very little (or wildly misguided) market research.
