Now's a great time to check out my piece from a few weeks ago, considering how resistance and revolution are imagined in MachineGames' Wolfenstein reboots, over at @vaultofculture.bsky.social:

The choice to frame this rhetorically as a negotiation *with ICE and DHS* rather than, you know, a decision about their future made by their rightful superiors in the popularly elected legislature is, to me, incredibly grating.
Our DHS reform demands are exceedingly reasonable.

We're asking ICE to do nothing more than follow the standards that the vast majority of law enforcement agencies already follow.

Republicans, the ball is in your court. The clock is ticking.

The answer is always ‘Because a bunch of people died, fuckwit.’

Love to see people in the year 2026 spend all day talking about what the Dems can’t do and shouldn’t try
I mean, sure, Congress should, they never should have given the money in the first place and there's about a million things Congress should be doing to assert Art I powers

But this whole piece is written like Dems have a veto supermajority in both chambers

"Tenure, for nearly a century the strongest bulwark in defense of academic freedom, protecting independent scholarship from shifting political winds & whims of scholarly fashion, is under withering assault."
Eight Myths about Tenure
Myths about tenure help keep not only the public but much of the professoriate from recognizing the harsh reality that tenure, under sustained assault, is in danger of becoming a myth itself.
