I have a grand total of zero patience left for the top paid city staff in charge of community safety not being able to answer basic questions about crime trends and personnel allocations as we deliberate our budget.
Worth watching not just because it's fun. The Frey admin choosing to implement the budget priorities of their friends over their foes is not how the council's power of the purse is supposed to work.

Why the hell do they keep complaining about Minnesota and saying horrible things about our governor and our Somali friends?

We’re freakin’ Minnesota.

Everyone else should think about us once or twice a year, tops.

Leave us alone.

We have a quarterback situation to worry about.

Trump calls human beings “vermin,” “garbage,” “diseases,” “poison,” and “animals.”

Then, when I rightfully point out that the same dehumanizing language has been used by fascist regimes to justify humanity’s worst atrocities—Republicans lose their minds.

Give me a break.
Trump on Somalis: "We're gonna go the wrong way if we keep taking in garbage into our country. Ilhan Omar is garbage. She's garbage. Her friends are garbage."

We keep doing these pilot programs and are shocked, SHOCKED!, by the incredibly positive results each time. At what point can we just, ya know, stop with the pilots and make this policy already??? #ubi
An Oregon pilot program giving cash to homeless youths sees a staggering reduction in homelessness. The program gave participants $1,000 cash payments each month for two years, and at the end of the project's first phase, 91% of participants reported being in stable housing.

and this is why waymo is a labor issue, not a tech issue! it's going to be taking money out of the pockets of rideshare drivers and putting it solely in the hands of big tech
As a QA person, I would be more comfortable in a Waymo than any other vehicle that promised any sort of autonomy.

They trained on some of the more difficult streets in the nation, and now they are broadening out to see what other factors affect the reliability and safety of their operation.

Whenever people discuss if ChatGPT should be used in education, it should be noted that OpenAI's board includes a a professor who sought advice from a pedophile on how to manipulate one of his mentees into having sex with him, and in those conversations they substituted her name with a racial slur.
OpenAI is among the handful of the most powerful non-governmental institutions in the world.

Larry Summers could get fully jettisoned from Harvard (hasn't yet happened!) and yet still be fine so long as he is helping determine the future of AI.

Kinda impressive how OpenAI has managed to occupy a seemingly quantum state between "imperial project", "non-profit research foundation", and "criminal enterprise".
BREAKING: OpenAI is requesting US government support to help guarantee financing for the massive investments in AI chips and data centers it needs for expansion, per Bloomberg.

Mariah Samuels should be alive today. MPD leadership is so callous and unaccountable that we can’t even get a “We messed up. We will do better next time” from their leadership. Instead, we have MPD leadership blaming everyone else
Minneapolis woman’s killing exposes gaps in how police investigate domestic violence
In the aftermath of a brutal assault, department leaders failed to assign an investigator to Mariah Samuels’ case. That’s not uncommon.

Frey is hiding AAR on the Davis Moturi case. Allowing MPD to refuse cooperation with the City Auditor’s office. While ducking responsibility for the handling of the Mariah Samuels and Allison Lussier tragedies.

Simultaneously using city accts to post glorified campaign ads right before an election.
The City and Mpls Public Housing Authority broke ground on two new affordable housing projects, including a triplex in south Mpls. Thanks to $1.25 mil. from the City's housing levy and the Mpls 2040 Plan, three families will have beautiful new homes next year.

I happen to think that because MPD shot his god damned eyeball out Soren gets as many years as he had the eyeball added to his residency.
When I moved to Minneapolis in the mid-aughts, it was really difficult to make friends. People from other states didn’t get it.

Now the bias is front and center in my city politics. If I’m a resident who “just got here,” do I matter less to Josh?

Angie Craig’s on tomorrow morning and I hope they press her on single-payer. I’m sure she’ll demur.
If you are a MN voter, know that for Senate 2026, Angie Craig took AIPAC money. Peggy Flanagan did not.

Democrats should be drawing up legislation right now, this very minute, to bar Trump from helping himself to $230 million in taxpayer funds from DOJ. Challenge Republicans to hold a vote on it. Push this so hard in the media that every GOP Senate and House candidate is pressed to comment on it.
