All the Jazz Hampton & especially Dewayne Davis truthers will be disappointed. Fateh drove Frey’s vote total to 50% but no other candidate would get as close.
As others have mentioned, we now have the Cast Vote Record for the Minneapolis mayoral election. I'm going to be doing a good bit of digging into this, but I'll start with the big question: How would DeWayne Davis or Jazz Hampton have done in a final round against Jacob Frey?

Note to fellow Boomers in Minneapolis upset about the Senate Democrats caving yet again:

#1: This is precisely why The Youngs have embraced the DSA and why you should the same. Or at least quit demonizing young Dems who are looking for big change. The DSA caucus is the future.

# 2....

Bernie Sanders has fought for working families since Day One.

He's built a movement that is taking on corporate special interests and fighting for an economy that works for everyone. I'm proud to join that movement.

I'm honored to have earned his endorsement of my campaign for US Senate.

Think I’m going to try and log off for the week, enjoy your Edmund Fitzgerald posting and see you next week.

Might check my DMs from time to time in case someone needs something. Also, don’t mention this post if I come crawling back.

The NYT waking up Ezra Klein to write an op-ed about how caving on the shutdown is “doing politics the right way”

Assume all the yes and no votes from Dem senators are strategic and not sincere votes. The party caucus made a decision. No way to know how many were in favor. Then the caucus decided who would vote yes and no based on what would protect each of them politically the most. That’s how this works.

Bro look at my opposition party 🤦
Shaheen on Fox & Friends: "I believe there are number of Republicans who are gonna join us in trying to address healthcare costs ... we are gonna be able to continue to right about healthcare because we're gonna have a vote in December."

The reason people think the Democratic Party doesn't actually stand for anything is because it doesn't.

democratic voters wanted their party to shut down the government for myriad reasons — troops in american cities, masked thugs ripping families apart — but dem leaders insisted the wise thing to do politically was to stay hyper-fxated on this one thing, ACA tax credits. and then they just… gave up

They caved in March so they could get a better deal now. They’re caving now so they can get a better deal in some indeterminate future. The better deal is always just beyond their reach, but continuing to cave will get them there. And if you don’t agree with that, you don’t understand Politics,

Senator Schumer is no longer effective and should be replaced. If you can’t lead the fight to stop healthcare premiums from skyrocketing for Americans, what will you fight for?

So many people seem to be misunderstanding how human beings vote. We’re not automatons. We’re motivated by emotion, connection, and our own goals. Assuming everyone will line up behind you because you think you have some perfect analysis is never going to be a realistic outcome.

I am so furious right now.

AGs across the country fought to get SNAP benefits.

Federal workers suffered with weeks of no pay.

Millions of people showed up to protest Trump.

Democrats showed up in record numbers at the polls to say 'we've got your back!'

And you caved for literally nothing.

Hi Minnesotan Bluesky:

The DFL has a well-known transphobia problem. I'm organizing to change the party platform in 2026 to be explicitly supportive of trans people in Minnesota. This will provide a basis for expelling transphobia from our party.

And if a 100 other things had been different, too, maybe!

What we have is what we have. If the PACs hadn't shifted their attention to Fateh, if the media had been different, etc etc, does not change the facts on the ground. This is a ridiculous conversation, honestly.

Nick, as someone who ranked Davis first, this is the wrong take. Fateh very clearly had more votes at the end of the day. I was out knocking doors for both of them. You are proposing a scenario that was never going to happen.

I can't speak for specifically DSA-organized doorknocks, but every DSA-aligned campaign I was adjacent to was pushing Rank All Three! Minneapolis for the Many was pushing it! The candidates themselves and their campaigns were pushing it! What more can we do?

What an incredibly disrespectful thing to say to someone who most certainly put more time into this election than you did.
I don’t have an interest in explaining, yet again, why if people had switched their 1st choice from Fateh to Davis, he would have had a better chance at beating Frey than Fateh ever had.

Please grow a brain that actually understands electoral politics and strategy.

I’m going to ask that you stop calling me “dude”. I don’t know you. Again. Im sorry I don’t agree with your analysis. I have my own argument that I’ve made clear.

Your graphs are purely theoretical. Reality is Fateh was the strongest candidate this whole time. That never changed. I liked Davis too!
Because he’s not viable with the folks you need to peel of Jacob to keep Jacob out of office, that’s why! JFC dude, I drew graphs and everything.

Why are we asking voters to move from the candidate who was clearly the most popular, funded, and organized challenger?

Moderates obsesses over “electability”, right? By every measure Fateh was the most electable.

We were always happy to make coalition with the center. That wasn’t reciprocal.
That might be true in most elections, but in this one it’s less relevant because Fateh voters had DeWayne right there. It wasn’t like they had to move that far. Center right voters would still have been moving farther than Fateh voters.

Using “far left” to describe the candidate supported by 31% - 44% of mayoral voters is a choice. Trump would agree with that choice, Frey camp agrees.

Far left in Mpls is either immediate full abolition of police and communes replace gov; or revolutionary takeover of gov by “the people,” depending

For Roper to call Fateh or bulk of his supporters far left is to do ideological work. It’s lazy and unsurprising. Go talk to some Maoists and some anarchists.

What is the point of local reporting if the columnist is going to clumsily apply a US national politics frame to a local election?
